| Quote: Rogues Gallery "I actually went to the game and have just got back.
I'm sure there are a couple of Saints fans who can tell you my initial thoughts.
"Great game, better side won"
When I have watched the video I'll give a better analysis if that's o.k.
BUT
Melis's try, I thought he came from outside the field of play to score, as I'm in the West Stand it's difficult to judge.
In the South Stand bar after the game, there was a lot of discussion about the goal from Wellens try. It looked o.k. from the West Stand but the majority in the East Stand thought it was wide.
Wigan were not clinical enough, but I'd be quite confident if we have to play you at Wigan in the play offs.
Is that good enough for you for now.
I'll watch my Sky+ recording and then comment.'"
It was wide he didnt give it.

| Through gritted teeth, congratulations on your win today, I think you just edged it.
The play offs will be something to watch with Wigan, Wire, Saints and Leeds all closely packed together in quality, who knows who will win it. Oh, and Hull are quietly going about their business too

Nope. He put his knee down in the field of play. The big question mark was over whether he actually touched the ball down. And he only just did, too. There was no doubt about whether he was coming from the field of play. You'll see that clearly from the video (as I have just done).

Brian Carney brought this up when the VR was deciding, but he must have adjudged that Meli's knee touches the field of play before he grounded the ball to make it legal.
Thanks Wigan fans for your congrats, we're back at a level now were the derby is a real blood and thunder day for the players. I thought we were good for the win, but who know what would've happened if Richards had taken that ball (or saying that, had Foster taken that one earlier).

After watching the sky+ it was a try no problem, although Feka wants shooting for waving Meli past him.
Robys try was a strange decision though. The video ref gave it but there is no conclusive video that shows him getting the ball down. I would have given the try as benefit of the doubt.
Brilliant game though, can't wait for the next one

| Well thanks a lot, I was really looking forwards to watching Brazil v the Ivory Coast, watche your game first and you had to spoil my later enjoyment by putting on a festival of brutality and sporting general hardness.
I spent the hour and a half after your match watching a set of pansies collapsing like they'd been decapitated at the merest brush of a leg. Got to the point where I would have paid good money to see someone just smash the sh111te out of a brazillian and say 'now your hurt'..
Seriously tho' great match, best team won although a draw would maybe would have been a good outcome.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery " I would have given the try as benefit of the doubt.'" Same here, you couldn't quite see the ball, but I think from the way the players were around it it was likely it went down. Benifit of the doubt goes to the attacking team.

| Watch Leon Pryce when Roby is down on the floor. He acts in a positive way - pointing and looking at the ref.
Would have given benefit of the doubt aswell.

You couldn't see the ball but you could see the elbow of his ball-carrying arm and where it was in relation to the ground and the other players. Then, he pulled out that arm from the direction of the ground. I have no doubt that was a try. Meli's feather touch was more dodgy (although he was definitely in the field of play when he scored).

| Alot will come down to injuries or lack of them come play off time. Hopefully we've had more than our fair share, and you'd like to think the likes Maurie, Wilkin, Soliola etc will be fresh for the run in.
