Disagree with Eastmond at centre.
He should be 7 with Tomkins at 6.
The Kiwis have some really big lads at centre and Eastmond is a tad small.
I do think him and Tomkins could cause the big Kiwi forwards real problems. If the Kiwis rush up they'll both kick behind them.
If the Kiwis stay back they'll both attack their defence line with ball in hand.
IMO Tomkins at 6 and Eastmond at 7 is a must.

this has to be one of my favourite threads of all time! My favourite player getting totally vilified for having a poor game!

Reading the vindictive posting about mags and seeing you all w*nk over it tells me all I need to know about said muppits!

Reveling in it like pigs in sh*t

Everyone around me screaming for him to come off, hence the cheer when he was subbed.

If there was ever an advert for an Eastmond/Tomkins half-back combination, the last 15 mins of that game was it.

It was like that around where I was sat, the cheers were deafening. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the game and had to put up with watching it at home. icon_lol.gif

Eastmond coming on changed our game going forward. He gave us a bit more of a spark in attack, was solid defensively and his introduction gave Tomkins a bit more space on the other side. We also got a couple of decent kicks after he came on.

Sinfield again showed that he isn't an International 13, though he did a better job at 9 than Roby did and gave us a bit more direction. Even though I've argued against this with certain Wigan based posters, Im starting to come round to the idea until we get a couple of decent hookers (Moore still has the potential to become a very good hooker IMO).

McGuire again showed that he lacks at this level, when asked to take more responsibility on, his game takes a backward step. And before Leeds fans start whining about club bias, Pryce is exactly the same. I think he may do a decent job at full back though, he's faster and a more creative than Briscoe who looked like he always does, like a second rate Radlinski.

The game showed up just how bad Saints are. Look at how dominant Leeds have been over us and yet you see how totally and utterly average their players are in the International game. It just shows how far we have to go to match the Aussies and the Kiwis.

icon_lol.gif no not as much as my sides do from the constant belly laughes that saints fans serve up on a daily basis!

carlos post was born out of total bitterness! and totally misses the point that it doesn't matter if they are average players because they are part of a team where they all have a role! success or failure doesnt come from a few individuals but from a united effort(or lack of it for the latter)

Quote: back to back to back "It's a good thing they don't do stuff like that in the grand final isn't it?

What has the Grand Final to do with the performance of Danny Maguire in an international game against Australia? Thats right -absolutely nothing.

For what its worth, part of the problem as far as i could tell, which caused England major problems in the first half, came from the fact there were 2 stand offs and both were playing stand off. Tomkins appeared to place himself in the same position he plays at Wigan during the first half, and that of course had a knock on effect on Maguire. It was undoubtedly inexperience on Tomkins behalf, although there can be no doubt that Tomkins improved in the 2nd half, whereas Maguire just seemed to go from bad to worse.

Its amazing how "bitter" all Saints fans are supposed to be, and yet the Leeds fans try to convince themselves that the 'cheering' when Maguire came off is because of a player returning and not Maguire going off. At the end of the day, Danny Maguire may have played brilliantly in the Grand Final, but it counts for nothing after his performance in an England shirt against Australia. The same has been said about Sean Long for years.

Different players, different coach, different scapegoat, same result.

I'm a Leeds fan but i have to agree with this. Bigger worry is centres...just who have we got ?? Smith is a good full back (or winger) and should start at full back but never as an international centre. Shenton is simply not good enough. Bring back Keef !
