Lee Gaskell normally plays at stand off.

| i think the normal half back pairing is danny wakefield and ben karalius who have gone really well this season. add lee gaskell in who plays stand off and were pretty well sorted for 6 and 7!

| I find it hard to believe people moaning that we have a good group of half backs. "Another scrum half" - there will always be 6 or 7 young half backs across the first/reserves/academy, and I'd much rather they were good players than bad.
Even if Rogues had come on and said a Saints prop had a great game, most would write him off as useless at 18 when he hadn't yet filled out properly and wasn't smashing seasoned props in the super league (cough Frodsham cough).
Just be glad we had the stand out player.

That's not what i meant. its great we have good prospects coming through, and obviously a half back stands out more at that age as props are possibly 5 years off physical maturity, but you can tell if they have promise, like frodsham for example.

I didn't know that but was just about to post that he looks more of a stand off as he quite tall and rangy.
He did remind me of Sam Tomkins.
What really impressed me was his attitude, he made a couple of errors early on, and you could see he was really annoyed with himself, but he didn't let it affect his game.
The variation of his kicking game was superb, long kicks to touch, grubbers over the line and chip kicks over the defence. Add to that two well taken tries, some good passes and the kid had a great game.
Anyway that's enough praise for a Sentelliner, I'm going for a lie down in a dark room.

| Lee Gaskell was superb, he is a player who no doubt will have a chance at making it.

He looked it, but it's difficult to say as like Sam Tomkins he has quite a long stride.
I'm not sure how old he is (anybody know?), but if grows he could easily become a centre, but he is certainly one of the most impressive youngsters I've seen this season.

He's 19 in October, looks like he could put a few Kilo's on by the penpic of him off the Saints site.

He was very quick when he was younger. He use to be very small and nippy. Looks like his shot up over the last couple of years.

He has a deceptive speed about him and a good turn of pace through a gap as Rogues said similar to Sam Tomkins.
Best academy player I have seen around.
I was most impressed with his running across the line always looking at the options and keeping the defence guessing. Too many players are too predictable but he is always looking for the opening but also knows when to put out the simple pass.
I would also agree with Rogues that he would make a good centre as he is quite big and has pretty good defence as well. Saints have some great players coming through the ranks which is great to see.
