| I don't know if we [ineed[/i a great prop, just a good, big one. I reckon there's some underrated british players that could go great guns for saints - rlGriffinrl from huddersfield always seems to impress me.
Someone along the level of rlWoodrl or rlLuke Burgessrl would add an awful lot to our squad, without being a marquee player in their own right.
[iI don't normally like quoting those stats, but i reckon prop is the position which they represent most realistically.[/i

I agree - a Fozzard type signing would do the job, I remember a lot of people saying he wasn't good enough for us but he did a job.
I agree on Wood - I rate him, although he seems to be injury prone? Strangely enough I also think Gareth Haggerty could do a job as a squad prop.

Not quite the talent of someone like Morley or Graham, but played his heart out to get to (almost) the same level.
Is Haggerty playing well? I remember rating him well when he was at Salford, but haven't seen him for London.

| If Jason Cayless goes at the end of the year, we have a big void to fill. We need a top quality forward IMO.

| I agree with Blobby I know Cayless has had a bad run with injuries but when he was fit he was awesome. I will now wait while all the " He's always been garbage, never thought he was any good " merchants come on here and show their ignorance of Rugby League.

Cayless is one of the best in the world when fit, but when we replace him it will be like having an extra player, he has spent so little time on the pitch.
Personally I'd like to see us put a bit of faith in the young backs we've got coming through and use the spare cap money we're bound to end up with on buying two big props. If Clinton is available and good enough then let's go for it.

| Fozzard first few seasons were very poor, IMO. However, he then stepped up a few levels and started to impress, was a decent signing in the end.

| Lynch is the best SL prop OOC, but I hope we end up re-signing him.

I've never thought he was rubbish, but I always thought he was slightly overrated. Good player, great engine and a big bloke, but nothing exceptional.
Here are some interesting stats, including the only player OOC considered to be worth a look at https://www.superleague.co.uk/statistics_player.php?hs1

He is always good when I see him and he should be coming into his prime as a prop, but would you say his injury record is a worry?
FWIW I agree with dux. We've got some real talent coming through in the backs with Wheeler, Eastmond and Lomax, as well as having a decent deputy in Armstrong, Smith out on loan and the more long term prospect of Foster coming through. Someone said props win pots, if we had a front row set up anywhere near as good as we did in '96, then our backs have enough qulaity to finish games off.
If we were to use the money from Longy, Cayless (who must be two of our bigger earners) and the difference between Cunningham and Moore's wage, we could easily afford Lynch (unless we get in a bidding war) and another good prop.
For those who've mentioned O'Mealey - word on the street (sydney based message boards) is that he's looking like a bit of a powder puff at the mo, although he's still young enough to turn things around imo. Nathan Cayless has had some critisism that he's way past his best, aswell.
Does anyone have a link to that thread that gives us all the OOC superleague players?

Also, there'd be no better way of easing those youngsters into the side than letting them play behind a pack that's on top most of the time.

| I also think 2 big props is the way forward for next year, i would be a little dissapointed if we didn't at least get 1 good prop. Sir Mc said on GMR last week that half the battle gatting players to play for your team is the chance of winning things. Well Lynch (if we go for him) could go for Bradford, Castleford or Saints he currently has little chance of winning anything at bradford or Cas

I suspect he'll have a few more options than that.
