From a sporting point of view, the fact that they have a successful team is a more compelling argument than the decent stadium one.
This debate will go on for ever. Imagine how we would feel if we were the stand out best team in a second tier league with no promotion.

They used to have some decent attendances at Thrum Hall and some decent players too.'

In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

Spot on. We've won seven matches. There's thirteen left and then some. Listening to some people on these forums, we're sat in the communal bath sipping champagne (well, Blue Nun at least), smoking cigars and already singing "we are Super league" ! There's two years of hard graft on and off the pitch before there's a hope in hell of the RFL even opening the envelope containing our application. That said - it is champagne stuff - at the moment. It's like watching St Helens and long may it last.
