Are you sure on that? I asked about the Hull home game last year and they never mentioned not being able to sell it, it was a good few weeks before it was due to become available though.

That is 100% incorrect. Never had a problem getting games from FC,Wire,Rovers and Wigan...I think it's just individual clubs like Saints if you say they don't sell them.

This is becoming very confusing, or I am being fed all kind of lies from the club Shops. I was in the USA on business when Saints played at Huddersfield last August, my dad went in to the town centre shop 6 or 7 times and ordered the DVD. Each time he went in to collect it they kept saying it hasn't arrived. Eventually they told him he had to order from Knowsley Road; we went up there and we were told that Sky had decided they are not able to sell DVDs of Super League games - I pointed out that it wasn't a Sky match and they said it made no difference, they are not allowed to sell them anymore.

If anyone has managed to buy a DVD of a Saints game since the middle of last season, let me know. I also remember Ron Hoofe commenting on the Season Review 2008 DVD that we cannot get DVDs now and if we did want to see them again we should complain (or words to that affect).

Tobias - I went in search of a match from last season just a couple of weeks ago and was told at the Saints shop that they no longer do DVDs and haven't done any from last season. When I asked why, I got a somewhat vague response but along the lines of 'I don't think they think it is worth it, something about Sky and copyright'. So I've no idea whether Sky have introduced/hiked up copyright charges or whether they have banned clubs from making DVDs as of last season or whether Saints have opted to stop paying any copyright fees in the interests of outlay.

Thanks for that SaintsFan, that more or less tallies with what the shop said to us - although they implied this applied to all Super League matches, not just those involving Saints.

Ski, Micron did indeed supply the DVD/video products to Saints, but they are not permitted to supply direct - even though they do record all the matches for the Club.

I've rung the Saints shop, which isn't the number that says 'shop' - that's the internet shop

They told me they don't do current matches because of Sky copyright, but they might be able to get me one from Micron, or I could ring them myself

I rang Micron and they told me they couldn't selll direct, I'd have to ring Saints shop

I told him I had and that they'd told me to ring them

He's checking and ringing me back

Also just heard Rovers shop might be getting some from ....Saints shop.

The changes/problems appeared to happen when Super League started its paid-for SLTV online service last year. The RFL may have sold the rights to that company - last season all games were available online for a fee. That service has finished - probably because of the very poor quality of the video.

Perhaps we may see the DVDs return now that the paid-for SLTV service has been terminated.

I've just spoken to both Bradford and Saints and neither club will be selling ANY 2009 dvds.
