| 6-10 months ago McDermott seemed to have quite a few fans, people were complimenting him as a disciplinarian and how he commanded a lot of respect. He hasn't held it together at Quins, that may have been unaviodable because of prbelms with playing staff etc, but he'd not covered himself in glory over the past year.
He may do ok at Leeds from the off, but I would wager that it will certainly be beyond next season when he develops his tactics and training to be a top two team manager.

Sorry Rogues, your wrong on that one. Officially Warrington finished third. I asked the question to the RFL, please find the answer below,
Quote Rogues GalleryThe final finishing positions in the league table are after the weekly rounds. Therefore
Warrington finished 3rd.

that was my understanding, and that all the gate receipts including OT are put in a pot and split equally between the 8 teams (after the rfl have had their share i'd imagine)

Did they mention the prize money? 3rd highest pile of cash is 3rd, for me.

The question I asked was, Is the prize money and final league positions decided after the weekly rounds or after the play offs? Did Warrington finish 3rd or 5th? Did they receive prize money for 3rd or 5th?

I'm sure the money allocated to the clubs is dependant on positions =#FF0000after the play offs.
Do you think that Saints, Wire, Leeds etc got the same amount as Wigan?

As I posted they have been wrong in the past, I asked a question at the start of the season, I wasn't sure about their reply, I then re-sent the same question a week later and got a totally different reply. Lets see what reply I get this time as I have re sent the question.
I was under the impression that prize money and final standings where decided after the play offs and not the weekly rounds.

| Quote McClennan="McClennan"In my business world you have to prove yourself capable of managing a small area effectively before you will get the opportunity to take on a role that is bigger with more responsibility. In my analysis of McDermott he has managed a small area with limited effectiveness. Has he been effective enough to suggest that he can manage something bigger? Not from where I'm stood. If he'd turned Harlequins RL into consistent top eight material then there is a case for him getting the Leeds job. He hasn't, therefore I see little in your argument to counter what I am stating. It's pretty obvious to me, however I understand why you choose to not see it.'"
Presumably you thought the same when we appointed Tony Smith?

| Just back on topic....the next year or so is going to be very interesting at Leeds. Hetherington seems to have brought forward by a year the planned revamp of the squad that was being mooted.
When I look at the squad for next year, we will probably be better balanced without Diskin/Buderus in rotation, and Cross will add a bit of grunt, but even when everyone's fit we have some issues even on paper. Someone else mentioned earlier in this thread that Leeds don't have a yard-making second row. I'd say that given Lauti'iti's limited game time we also really lack a second row who hits the line hard and threatens the defence, particularly on their own line - IMO its been a real weakness for Leeds since Ellis left. With Eastwood gone we're even lighter in the category of forwards who can break the line.
We have other issues too. Burrow needs to develop his game as McGuire started to last season, and we need to quickly sort out left centre, as with Delaney on the other side we don't look particularly (or at least regularly) threatening out wide.
Anyway, I think its quite exciting to be in this period. This isn't a revamp forced on Leeds by mass retirements or because we're rubbish, we're doing it from a relatively good position. Sts should be Leeds' model for that, as you've managed to overcome the loss of lots of good players and stay very competitive.
As to whether McDermott's the right man...only time will tell. I'm not overly inspired by his appointment, but if he can get a decent assistant from Australia who can bring the latest ideas, then it may work.

From what our chairman and chief exec have said in the past, getting to the GF is worth about £50k, winning is largely irrelevant moneywise, where as getting to the CC final is worth roughly £500k, again win or lose
