| So who was his agent?
I seem to recall it was Offiah when Eastmond extended his contract at Saints but by the time he left he had switched agents. Was his new one Clark's brother?

That was only part of it, prior to that McManus put in a good new contract offer, Eastmond became more indecisive as his agent seemed to have already made his mind up where his client is going to go.
That indecision and agent invovement "miffed" McManus to no end, the end point was Eastmond became very unprofessional and spit his dummy out, afterwards James Graham showed how it should have been done with transparency and playing 100% up to his last game.

| Eastmond had already made his mind up that he was going to Rugby Union back in 2009. I don't know of it's still available (mods) but check my post around about 1st August 2009 on him.

It appears to be consigned to history.

t may have got a little derailed, but the reason we're scrabbling about for Burns, who is a great player but hardly the future of saints is because of past decisions.
What to do after next year? Walsh will probably be off (hopefully after a successful season) and we'll still be a halfback and a backup hooker down!

Walsh has the option of another year after the next , maybe having his good mate Travis here to keep him company will influence him to take it. We will also need to see how Walsh recovers from his injury, even when he is training and gets back playing his [ifull[/i recovery may take a considerable time.
I'd love to think the club is thinking a few years ahead but given how we've been caught out so badly in the recent past I'm not convinced

| May I put in a lone voice of dissent here without being pounced on?
I am not excited about Burns coming to Saints, I rate him as above average but that's all.
It leaves the question; if not Burns then who - and I really do not know the answer to that , but it looks a bit like panic buying.
surely there are some good rookies in the NRL who can't get in the 1st team but are better than anything we have over here?

I would hardly call it a panic buy. We've not had a recognised 6 for 3 -5 years depending on your point of view.
A very slow panic buy.
Above average maybe accurate. It may not. I'm not an officionardo on Burns but having a proper 7 and 6 is what most people are excited about. There are others who follow it closer and are excited about the player. But for me it's having a balanced side for the first time in nearly 5 years.

Burns has probably been the best 6 in the league this season alongside Brown maybe at widnes. Don't know whether that proves or disproves your point tho?

| I think the reason people are so pleased with the Burns signing is that he addresses two separate weaknesses in the side. Firstly, he is our first genuine 6 for years (possibly even since Martyn, since arguably neither Hooper nor Pryce were natural stand offs). Secondly, he is a fiery competitor, something that we've been crying out for.

Thirdly it will free up Hohaia to play a utility role off the bench and finally give Roby a breather.
