| I don't think the club jersey should ever change. By doing so you are only diluting the brand.
By not changing I realise the club would lose a valuable income stream - but that's why you pay big money to the marketing department to find alternatives.

We've only had the vee since what the late 60s? Historically, the vee has little to do with the club. There is more than enough scope for a single red hoop shirt, particularly with a retro club badge. Easily marketed as a vintage shirt. It would cause a huge controversy and get people talking. Some would love it, some would consider it sacrilege. I can't imagine this year's kit selling well. It'll do alright with Christmas and the sheep fans that buy every kit regardless of whether they like it.

The away shirt should be the one they experiment with, as you say, home should stay pretty much the same every year to keep the brand recognition.

| Don't like either kit.
The home kit looks like someone has put a cumerband on the wrong way.

This is a club jersey representing the town of St. Helens and its heritage. It is not a fashion statement.

Think they have designed the home shirt for all the fans with a big belly, you will be able to see your own personalised red vee as you walk along.

You are wrong there. It is a primary commercial opportunity for the club. The shirts should be interesting enough to ensure good sales, this years unfortunately aren't going to. I've yet to find anyone who has said they like the shirts and that won't translate well into sales.
The commercial aspects of the club still seem to be underperforming to me. We're still not showing healthy profits despite the improvement since the ground move. With the cap where it is, Saints should be posting big profits, quite a few other clubs are.

Shirt sales are only a revenue stream because we chose to follow the trends set by others. Besides, it's not as though people would stop buying if the home kit (at the very least) remained fixed. New fans arrive, old shirts become worn out etc.
As I said - you pay marketing gurus good money to come up with ideas - not stick with old ones.

Saints have just announced sales now exceeding last years launch, so maybe we on here are very much a minority with the real world.

Interesting. Is that because it's out a week earlier this year?

| Think we've missed a trick. We could have brought back the 1996 kits, 20 years after winning the 1st Super League.
