Oh dear. Least dynamic 6 of all time . If he could stay fit it would be Wheeler for me but I suspect as you do it will end up being Lance, mainly because we cant find any team dumb enough to take him off us.

The last 3 or 4 games Lance did "reasonably" well at 6 and Brown made the statement that he is now finding a way to play him in the team.
So I would imagine Lance will be 1st choice 6, don,t think we can consider Wheeler he is really when fit a utilty player now.
Hope Charnock gets more game time with perhaps Lance operating at 9 giving Roby some spells to the bench.

I have gone for Lance. He is the best player on that list. Not a very good list though is it.

I'm glad to accept the label of idiot (it's part of our common humanity to be idiots, after all), but I don't accept the reason for the diagnosis in this instance. I did not, do not and will not big up Wellens as a stand off. I just misinterpreted St Pete's statement about Wellens not having a rugby brain and sought clarification. I've learned to respect St Pete's judgements on players and was startled by his (apparent) judgement on Wellens, for whom I have great admiration as a full back and as a man committed to play the best rugby he can for Saints. But I misinterpreted St Pete's post, as he evidently misinterpreted mine.

A few years back Lomax was being touted as the next England 6 or 7, worth another go alongside Walsh.

Wheeler's last chance saloon with charnock getting some game time too would be my preference, with walsh to guide him and our new props to protect him, he'll be ok

I think the role of 7 and 1 have inversed a little bit, where we used to look to the scrum half to be making breaks we now look to the 1 and we used to have a full back linking in moving the ball across the pitch the scrum half acts a first reciever.

The idea was having the little scrum half running at the big (tiring) men and beat them with speed - improved defences in the middle make this near impossible and limits the halfbacks running game, 6 is slightly different but I think the days of seeing lomax at 7 are gone - simply as the game has changed.

I agree - he should be given one more chance in the first team and if or when (hopefully not) he gets another long term injury, then sadly its bye bye Gary.
