| Quote EHW="EHW"It won't be, and shouldn't be, Barwick's job to deal with stuff like that. The role of Chairman is to set the strategy for the business, the role of the Chief Executive is to implement the strategy. Barwick (and the Board) will say "we need more revenue from TV rights to implement XYZ developments", Nigel Wood will actually have to go away and put that all into practice.'"
And thats where it all falls down , I wouldn't trust Mr Creosote to run a bath never mind the RFL. The first thing Barwick should do is find a decent CEO with a decent track record.

| What concerns me with Barwick is that every time he is interviewed, he takes the opportunity to tell everyone how connected he is and how he is going to exploit all his contacts to increase the profile if the sport, improve media reporting, bring more money in and generally have a massive impact on RL.
He's going to do this all on 2 days a month part time work.
And we still have no main SL sponsor.

| liking the views so far. Interesting the RU deal is worth 50mill. I think SKY have been pulling our pants down long enough now. They will now the quality of the league is dependent on the money they give. Poor league poor viewing, amazing league amazing viewing figures and companies would pay more for air time.

| Quote EHW="EHW"correct.
1000 viewers in the AB social demographic, are worth more than 10,000 advertisers in the C2DE demographics. Think Audi, Mercedes, Omega and Hilton advertising associated with Rugby Union, compared to Wonga, John Smiths and the Daily Star for RL.'"
I think that argument was well and truly shot down by our own Martyn Sadler a couple of seasons ago.

I don't think those numbers remotely stack up.
The Sun probably makes more in advertising revenue for those C2DE people than the Telegraph does with its AB readers.
It depends on the readership numbers (i.e. viewers) and what exactly you want to sell. Two entirely different propositions.

| I'm not having that RU viewers are more attractive to advertisers than RL ones. McDonald's, any massive global bank, payday loan companies, all of the big supermarkets and retail chains make more from 10000 RL fans than They would from 1000 (or even 9000) RU fans. The RFL marketing team is just incompetent!

| It's also assuming AB customers spend money following advertising.
However CDE customers tend to spend what they have on consumables.
AB customers having more disposable income tend to make larger purchases such as houses and holidays and cars, but you can only get so many of those. Were as you can spend as much money on consumables as you like.

| Brian Berwick is nothing but a figure head! and not a good one at that, with his past history, and failures, who does that remind you off, the whole interview was more Hot Air and Berwick self promotion, we need actions, not words, but all he will end up being is a voice for Big Nigel!

I agree really, Its Nigel wood who needs replacing, and ASAP. The club chairmen should have a vote of no confidence in him after a season of no sponsorship for the "premier" competition!

| I'm unsure what the hold is that Nigel Woods has over Club Chairmen, he does not keep his role as CEO on his success at Halifax and even more so in his position at the RFL.
Woods managed to force through his preference change in Super League and the lower leagues for 2015, to the Championship Clubs, with promises of extra cash, only Sheffield Eagles were willing to stand up to him.
Nigel's time in control at The RFL has been one of complete failure, still no announcement of a sponsor for the Rugby League World Cup, the RFU must laugh at us as a game. I worry what the World Cup make look like on TV, if anything after yesterday's Challenge Cup it does not bode well.

| I don't see what yesterday's Cup Final has to do with anything.
Two teams based on solid defence play safety first in poor conditions? Why I'm amazed! No teams have ever done that before in cup finals in any sport.

I wouldn't call what Hull produced 'safety first'! In fact, they seemed rather reckless with ball in hand (or not in hand, as the case was).
