Hohaia has been playing at stand off all season, doesn't mean he is one!

| Best choice by a country mile. ITT: Bitter saints fans. He would walk into this saints side and would have done from the day he started playing.

Can you remember any English half back having a great game against the Ozzies?

He'd walk into any team in the country now, but are you [iseriously[/i suggesting he'd have started ahead of Long, Sculthorpe and Martyn/Pryce back in the day? Don't talk wet...

Nobody seems to be bitter about Sinfield being selected as England captain and the debate we are having are whether he should be selected at 6 for his country. Nothing to do with how good he is or how he performs at club level. Incidentally I would prefer him at 6 at saints rather than Hohaia, but not over Martyn or Pryce.

That's fine and dandy, but given that Widdop isn't fit, who would you play?

Hohaia is stealing a living at Saints masquerading as a stand off while Sinfield has just won yet another SL winners ring after some top top performances and outstanding leadership. I'd go as far as saying if he was in the Redvee this season we may have finished up champions.

Paul Sculthorpe played at 6 and had a World Class game against Australia back in 2001.
Sean Long played Scrum Half and had as good a game against Australia in Australia in 2006.
Also Andy Farrell played 6 against Australia and was exceptional in 1994??? At Old Trafford

Goulding and Edwards played 7, Daryl Powel Played a game at 6, I think Schofield got involved in the 2nd test. Perhaps Clarke played 6 in the third test?

Aye, Clarke played 6 in the 3rd test. The match in which Farrell was outstanding at 6 was the 2nd test against the Aussie SL side in 1997.

| Long played a blinder in Sydney that time, but had plenty of off days.
The problem people like him and Deacon had is that they'd have a quiet day mainly becuase their forwards lost out, but then they'd be written off as not being able to perform on the international stage.
We do not have a glut of talent at half back, we have even fewer who are in the mould to dicate a game with distribution and kicking and apply a game plan.
We could win these internationals by turning up and just out muscling the oppo, but for the sake of playing anything past one up park rugby, take Sinfield.

| Sinfield is never going to be a dazzling stand off in the mould of Lockyer or Marshall. He is however an outstanding leader, organiser and a master of all types of kick. He'll be the first to admit (like many halves) that he needs a pack that is holding its own, and that seems to be where we struggle against Australia regardless of who's at 6 or 7. As a captain he should be first class though, a true role model of a professional RL player
