literally fat cats. The libdem/conservative coallition (in sthelens council, not national government) granted all the planning for the stadium, which Ms Rimmer and her Labour cronies objected to and now she's taking the credit for it. Unbelievable scenes.

Nauseating really. Especially when you consider that her and her cronies originally offered a measly fifty grand towards the stadium and now she's going on about how they paid eight million. They didn't. The coalition council did. Damn shame that the majority of the electorate in St Helens are as thick as bricks and re-elected her and her cronies.

Well, I started the thread so I'm entitled to comment on it. Secondly, the insults aren't based upon appearances, they're based upon two politicians taking credit where it isn't due and as a voting member of the public, I'm entitled to comment upon the hypocrisy of that and redirect the credit accordingly.

There were comments (not yours) about 'waistbands' and 'fat cats'. Just felt it a bit disappointing.

I think the Tories and Lib Dems have also rode many a shirt tail - as BL pointed out earlier, it's typical of local (and, to be fair, national) politics. Hardly news.

I think you and I have had this discussion before and neither of us has changed our views. There is one difference: the Labour council in St Helens came back into power and immediately spent money on a wraparound ad in the St Helens Star whinging about the cuts. They haven't shut up since. And since they are both of significant girth size and are taking credit where it isn't due, they have left themselves open for some heckling. Which they have received and which I found amusing.
