You can only have 5 playeres that are non Fed trained.

So Saints wouldn't be able to sign another player this season that was non Fed trained, unless Meli is exempt as he arrvied pre 2008? |

Thanks it does, it also backed up what iIsaid, Saints dont have any non fed trained (Quota and Overseas trained/kolpak) places left for this season, and to sign Laffranchi they would need to get rid of someone (TP?) for next year.

It's a shame we're doing this. I know we need some grunt up front given James Graham's exit but we were doing so well on developing home grown players and bringing in British players but now we are going for ageing Aussies again. It feels like a bad reaction to two of our star products walking away somehow.

According to the website you just gave me the rules are:
The rules are as follows:-
1) At least 8 'Homegrown' players
2) No more than 5 'Overseas Quota' players
=#BF00003) No more than 5 'Overseas Trained' players (including those in 'Overseas Quota')
4) Rest of squad to be from players trained within 'Same Federation'
Point 3 is the key, Meli, Perry, Soliola and O Hohia contracted means only one place left on the overseas trained quota. |
