| Good on him for confessing. It minimises the press speculation and prevents the hype from being built up.
But what is a 31 year old veteran of the game doing taking growth hormones? Unless he's used them throughout his career I can't what good using them in the twilight of his career would do.
If it is as widespread as thought, why aren't more players caught?

Not enough testing to catch them all?
Who knows whether it's widespread or not. There just isn't the information available to know for certain one way or the other I would imagine.

| Do you think any of these drug cheats will ever be "sorry" enough to grass up the supplier and their druggie mates?
I'm amazed that this question never seems to crop up, it's as if the person caught just made the drugs appear out of the air and nobody else was involved. Presumably he asked someone that was already taking them where to get them, then bought them from the same person. Who are these people? It'll never go away until someone has the balls to be really sorry and name their contacts.

| Usually after this type of incident people work on becoming better people. Well up to now I can't think of any redeeming points the man has. He's gonna have to become a saint if he want's my forgiveness. Erm, hang on, when I say saint = figure of speech

You could be describing so many players, for example Cunningham or Pryce. Except neither have ever had the bans they deserve.
Compared to those, Newton's an angel!

But these drugs aren't illegal, so I don't believe there's any legal recourse (or motivation) for any kind of "grassing up".
You would need a "whistle-blower", and I don't think you'll find one among professional players.

He was then on sky for 1st game of the season playing for his new club. No way he went that big and strong in the few months of the off season.
You would have to be pretty thick to think this sort of thing isn't common in our game.'"
According to the radio, over 700 professional RL players have been tested, only 4 returned positive tests.
I don't intend to make any kind of point with that, but IF those figures are accurate, then where's the rest of the iceberg?

I didn't at any point in my post say that every players uses these drugs, I said it goes on and everybody knows it does.
The tip of the iceberg comment was made by Cullen.
Last year didn't dunnerman(spelling) go back to oz and say it's rife in super league? Didn't he also say that players get tipped off by club, players and others when the testers are coming. He also said players are told by clubs to stay at home injured when the testers are due.
I'm sure I read that, but could be wrong.

He did.
On the 700 tests, that means that less than 10% are tested.
Just take a Superleague, 14, teams, 27 rounds, 17 players = 6426 instances.
Add International and out of competition tests (instances) then the cheats have a 90%+ plus chance of avoiding getting caught.
Some of the Superleague money has to be withheld from clubs an used for more testing. The testers should just arrive at any club during training and test all the players.
I heard a rumour two seasons ago where the players at a club got to know the testers were going to the training session. Two players phoned in sick, but they played at the weekend.
Whether it's true or not, who knows but Andrew Dunemann obviously had his suspicions.
