Gaskell had a massive bust up wit Saints over his contract, i do not know the ins and outs but he was basically told he was get a wage increase and when that time came, he never! Therfore he is refusing to sign a new deal.

His future with Saints is over.

He was offered about £12,000 a year ( will double check with my source for accuracy). Not surprised he turned it down.

The offer could just reflect the fact he is not rated by the coaching staff. I will ask the question and get back to you all.

That figure wouldn't surprise me. A few years ago a friend of my sons who had come through the academy ranks started getting a regular first team place at Wigan. He was on just over £8K

Gaskell has been about the squad for three years though. I can't see it.

Maybe I'm just completely out of touch with what these young lads earn, but it seems ludicrously low for someone who already signed a new 3 year deal in 2011 at a time he was very highly rated.

i think with a bit more coaching he has the potential to become an excellent player,he has got a little bit extra to his game,if saints don't fancy him he won't be short of clubs willing to take him on.
