He wasn't that bad. Matterson is getting very boring now, it seems to be the referee's fault every time they lose.
Saying that 'they were by far the better side' is bordering on delusional. They took their chances, but if Saints had been patient the game would have been over by half time.
About time the RFL had a word with him.

Bentham was as bad as he usually is.
I thought his inability to stop the match while Huby was lying prone injured was a disgrace, frankly. Just as Silverdud's was on Friday when Wheeler was down. And that's aside from everything else.

We've lost 3 times this season, he's blamed the ref once. Today. Again, justifiably. On Friday, asked about a couple of dubious calls, he fobbed them off and said it wasn't down to the ref for us losing. So do me a favour, jog on.

He did stop the game, not immeadiately, but then you'd have evry player trying it on to slow teams down

Oh yeah, he stopped it eventually. But we'd had a full set and failed to score and they were on their way back with the ball before he did so. It was terrible. Huby wasn't moving. He hadn't moved at all.

This quote by Matterson is the most delusional of any coach I have seen this season - "We did not run out of gas, it was just that he [the referee] kept putting petrol in their tank - that was the difference". To say that is justifiable is nonsense. Unprofessional sour grapes is probably a better explanation.
You're on the Saints board, so 'jog on' is a bit strong. But hey, losing seems to do that to people.

he cant watch everything, and huby had moved, he had his hand in the air to ask for help, if you know anything about triage, anyone asking for help, isnt that badly injured

You can't read much then because the rant by Agar regarding James Child was worse.
As for delusional, if one sides gets the bounce of the ball, the referees calls, the decisions, yes, it does benefit the side that gets those decisions. So yes, it probably is justifiable to say that especially given some of the apparent 'decisions' given by said referee.

How bad was that! We even had a stretcher on the field and full medical team, and still play went on. Surely one of the idiots with flags is allowed to use their brain at some point. It's not about slowing the play down, it's about getting urgent help to someone in obvious pain.
On the dodgy calls, and evening out over the weeks. Fair enough when it happens. But you should still criticise a ref who cannot see a blatant knock on, who cannot count and doesn't bother signalling when he should have been. That is his job and he has influence the outcome of the game with bad call. Your second try, the Saints player drove the ball in, and the ball dropped straight to the floor from the collision. Knock on. You know, it, I know it, everyone in rugby league knows it. It wasn't a "did it go back?" or "did the ball get stripped?" it was a knock on. You scored directly from it while the whole ground was expecting the ref to blow up. that really is poor from the officials.
Anyway, as I said on our board before the game. Saint have some good youngsters and the future looks good for them. They're up to speed of SL and doing the stuff. Stick with them it's good for the game. On your win, congrat's. Gutting for us, but you should always expect it against Saints. See you in the grand final for our revenge!

Exactly and as Pete said if a ref stopped a game everytime a player stayed down we'd start to see 'tactical injuries' (just like when your winning and an attacking player suddenly develops 'cramp' or a very sore leg lol)

oops . Anyone who has played or watches amateur rugby will tell you it happens a fair bit because refs will normally stop a game if a player stays down anywhere near play

| Play only has to be stopped for a head injury. If I am right in thinking that Huby picked up a knee injury then Bentham was right to let the game continue until the injured player was deemed to be in the way of play.

| I, & several others by me, thought we got every 50/50 call today.
Best team definitely lost for mine but you can't knock our desire & determination to win the match in that last 10 minutes when more than just a few were completely out on their feet.
If I were a Cas fan I'd feel robbed but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Correct. When wheeler went down on Friday the game carried on for about 3/4 mins leaving us down to 12 men.
