That's just a lie. Half of the Saints fans on this forum quote me in their signatures. I even praised Wello twice over two seasons (Leeds win with the kids and after the GF), so not true to say I never say anything positive.
Saints fans have gone soft. I can remember when the Blobby and his mates stormed the Director's box at Knowsley Road in a bid to overthrow McManus. We used to create an electric atmosphere and inspire the team, now it's like a morgue. We used to kick off at the slightest thing and protest, try to force changes through. Now we might as well put seats in behind the stands as there is no atmosphere in the ground. Off the field we're happy (KC confirmed it this week) to be the 4th best side in Super League. There is only really now my pressure fighting against the apathy, a lone beacon in the darkness of averageness.
If we finish outside the 4 next season a lot of you will jump on the bandwagon and claim you were always in my crew. It'll be KC that gets the blame at that stage and not McManus and Rush and I'm not sure how fair that is or isn't as we never learn who is in control at Saints. Who exactly is buying these players? We used to sign stars to add to our stars and we used to pile up trophies or die trying. Now we sign players relegation candidates don't want and fill the squad with utility players, to ensure an inevitable mediocrity. Perhaps it's a mirror of modern sport in general that long-term 'okay' is lower risk than trying to win, then suffering when you need to rebuild. But am I really the only Saints fan that is slightly miffed about the club being okay with 4th and no trophies?
