Barcelona's shirt is the same as last year, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before, and the year before . . .
Ain't brand recognition a b*tch.

| Brand recognition! lol
Go to a Cote d'Ivoire (first example i could think of) soccer game and show somebody a Saints shirt. Do you think they'd instantly yelp "ah! that red vee can mean only one thing! Saints RLFC!". But i bet if you went to an amateur rugby league game over here, people would know Barcelona's shirt straight away.
Our organisation isn't in the same world as Barcelona's, let alone the same league. They sell shirts the world over, just because they are who they are.
Our organisation apparently struggles financially, so shouldn't a shirt that actually differs each year make sense, to make people want to buy a new one each year?
I used to buy the home and away shirt every year at the start of Superleague, as it felt like getting two new shirts every year. But lately, its just like downloading a service pack for Windows most of the time
I've nothing against having a red vee on a white shirt. Its having the same plain white shirt with a single red vee that is my problem. What's wrong with varying it a bit like we used to?

There is nothing 'wrong' with it. But there is only so far you can go. It's got to be the same colours primarily or we would have to change the whole identity of the club.
I suggested a thick red back around a white shirt that we've had many years ago but it was roundly mocked on here, with many people saying they wouldn't buy or wear it because it didn't have a vee. I suppose that is the dilema the club has.
You could produce an absolutely stunning shirt, brilliantly designed so it looks superb on the field, with jeans or smart enough for wearing out. BUT what would you do the following year? It's a rugby club not a fashion house at the end of the day.

exactly, they could put loads of cost and effort into doing an amazing shirt that looks great in every circumstance, is brilliant quality that lasts for years, and that fans love and wear for years because they love it so much. It would probably sell in record numbers, but then people wouldnt buy the next years version.
On the other hand they can knock out any old white teeshirt with a redvee, make it of average quality (enough to last a year) and look ok - it will still sell loads, but people will be more inclined to purchase the next years shirt.

Yep, the point I was making was that people in the Ivory Coast recognise Saints as much as Barcelona. Bang on the money.

| Anyone have any idea if the pre-ordered shirts will be in the shop tomorrow as it was stated as a possibility on saintsrlfc.com?
Don't bother saying ring and ask because I can't get to a phone in work

| on redvee, the Media Manager has said something along the lines of "whoopsy, they will be in next week now" i.e. after the first game of the season when they are expecting a massive crowd of people, and 3 weeks ahead of the next home game.
I just wish the RFL would give the club more notice of when the season is set to start so Saints can plan these things in a more timely fashion.
same for the pre-ordered heritage shirts.

My sarcasm detector flickered a bit there, so it seems i may have missed the point of your original post. If i have missed it, then apologies, but you will have to elaborate to help me understand it better.

I can see part of your point about production costs. But if they designed shirts each year that varied more (i.e. going beyond Vee-thickness), then the shirts wouldn't have to last for years. Folk would want to be up to date with the new club shirt/image and be more likely to shell out.
Of course, everybody wants the Red-Vee on the shirt, and i don't think i've ever said anything to the contrary, but why not elaborate more on it and vary the designs [ias well as[/i the Vee.
If i was the only person who feels this way, then fair enough, i'd get my coat and shut my trap. But i know that isn't the case.
When i was still living with the parental unit, i had cash to burn, so i would have been likely to fork out for the most recent shirt regardless of its design, purely because the money would have gone up the wall otherwise.
Now i don't have that kind of money to burn, my blind-faith purchasing of a shirt "because it is the new one" is no longer a possibilty. Therefore, i won't be spending that spare cash on something that i've basically already got. I'd rather buy something that is new and i'll get a minor kick out of wearing a few times because of its novelty.

fair points, and im sure others feel the same - I was just looking from the POV of the club.
I havent bought a new shirt for a few years anyway. I always wait till the end of year sale so i'm a year behind (got the green one with my voucher from the season ticket purchase). I might be have been tempted to buy either the heritage shirt or the away shirt if they had them in stock on Saturday. I probably wont go into the shop again for ages after Saturday - due to living out of town and travelling in on Friday nights just in time for kick off.
Major cock up not to have them in this week IMO.
