I can see where he's coming from. He's not had much opportunity this year. Yes, he's not been great but he's not had the chances the likes of Richards, Tasi, Thompson and Walmsley have.

It does seem bizarre that we engaged in a bidding war with Wire for his services just 12 months ago, and then have barely played him. It's either a failure of talent-identification to have wrongly valued him, or a failure of talent development to have been unable to bring his performances up to potential.

A loan is a good idea. If he goes well, then there should be mea culpas in the Saints coaching staff, and a swift return to a regular spot. If he fails to feature at Cas, then I guess the coaching staff will consider that vindication.

Disappointing to be honest. He was great last season and simply wasn't given a chance this year. At the time he was dropped like a lead balloon, everyone in the first team was playing poorly. At that time the likes of Walmsley were even further below their usual levels than he was.

It just strikes me as another player who has questioned KC's methods. It seems once you do that you are out.

As mentioned it will be very interesting to see how he goes. For me him being a success at Cas would just add further fuel to the suggestion that KC is a terrible and insufficiently experienced coach. If he's poor at Cas and they complain about his attitude then maybe it redeems KC.

I've no issue with if you are out your out.
If someone does not fit then the coach has to pick those that match his philosophy as he will live and die by it and he has to let players know where they stand and that he is in charge.

However that is understandable were a coach has come in to put a stamp on a team. Doing it to a signing who was already playing for you the year before is very strange.

You can even understand burns exclusion more as yes he was a Cunningham signing, but there are always unknowns bring someone in from another club.

Savelio was a known quantity. If his face did not fit, surely it did not fit last year and we should have let him go and spent the money elsewhere.

My personal thoughts are that Savelio has bee totally missused, the lad play nearly all his rugby at loose forward yet he has been used as a battering ram by KC.

I'm gutted.

Can think of several players I would have shipped out before him: Owens, Tasi, DP, Richards....

Sav made his debut today. Came on when we were 10 0 down. Added real aggression to start with. Settled, then ran some superb lines in the second half. 1 for his try and 1 where he got stopped short but allowed gale to walk in. Had a touch of class about him. Can tell he's played in the back row as a youngster, really impressed with him.

One best debut I seen by a player coming in to a Cas side after a week caused real trouble with or with out ball looked class don't know what gone wrong at saints but he is proper player.

We all know how good he is, I've followed him all way thru our youth system and he's got potential to be a top class player.

Will defo be a nrl player

Is that the issue.

He's been spoken of as an NRL player for years but does that have an impact when you are still only potential ?

You have to be actully playing for nrl teams to see you play and for some reason couldn't at Saints.

I'll put money on him ending up at Warrington Leeds or Wigan via a lesser club on his way to nrl

He should be at L/F instead of Wilkin.

Cas Tigers coach Powell as asked Cunningham is Savelio can play on Thursday night due to injuries and has been turn down. Poor form that and very disappointing.
