If a player gets injured during an illegal hit from an opponent can be replaced and that change doesn't count against the 12 replacements available during the game.

As this is the case I've always considered that if a player is injured making an illegal hit and that player receives a suspension, then any suspension received should not be served until that player is fully fit and available for selection. Only fair really.

I'd agree with that although these days players don't seem to be found not guilty!

He's not a dirty player. He's just stupid sometimes. Alas, being stupid is no excuse for what he did and he was very lucky not to have broken the neck of the Hull player.
