After some good defence on their own line Salford manage to quell the danger after being first to a bouncing ball from a James Roby pass.

A quick play of the ball and a move involving Roby, Moore, Meli and Foster sees Saints in good field position but stopped by some good scrambling defence. On the last Jonny Lomax slides the kick into the in goal area but it goes dead.

Michael Shenton with a dart from dummy half has caught Salford napping and they concede a penalty for not standing square. This should give Saints good field possession once again in the Salford half.

On the first tackle Saints go wide to Foster who drops the ball and Salford come away to be 20m out from the Saints line.

Holdsworth slides the kick in on the last tackle and Luke Patten is just short of scoring Salford's second try. From the tap on the 20 Salford then relieve the pressure on Saints once again by committing a high tackle on James Graham.

James Roby puts a kick through on the last and is chased by James Graham. The Saints fans erupt as if a try has been scored but the referee wipes it off. Graham isn't happy with the decision and kicks the ball away, as a result of this he is sent for 10 minutes.

Phil Bentham gets a second yellow card out after Ray Cashmere makes yet another high tackle. Both teams now down to 12 men and a prop short. This match is heating up a bit now.

Saints on the Salford line make a forward pass and squander good territory once again.

About the 6th or 7th high tackle now by Salford, this time on Tommy Makinson. Not long before this game erupts or a red card is produced if this continues.

The penalty gives Saints another go form the Salford 20. From the possession Roby sweeps right across the Salford line and drops off Sia Soliola running on the angle. Soliola powers through the gap and is unstoppable as he goes through Luke Patten to score Saints' first try. Jamie Foster adds the extras.
