I've watched him from his first game at Wigan in the academy. I was told beforehand about him before he actually played (when he signed) so took an interest in him.
Then I happened to sit behind John Monie at an England v France academy game (at Saints), and overheard a conversation between Monie and Mo Lindsay.
Monie was asking about the England no. 9 and commenting on what an excellent player he was.
McIlorum is more a Diskin than a Higham or Roby, but that's fine by me as I see those two as failed halfbacks rather than hookers. I am really not a fan of scooting hookers, who in general can't pass accurately.
Next time you watch McIlorum just keep an eye out for his all round game, his tackling is fierce, but he needs to stop some of the silly penalties ( he can get a little over exuberant

) but I like a hooker with a bit of devil in them.
