| Quote: Saddened! "Indeed. But if they approach the start of the game a bit more professionally, they could probably have kept that Cas spell to one score and been ahead by half time, killed it after the break and took a breather for next week. Wigan have probably rested half their players and we've put ourselves through the mincer with an epic battle. We'll no doubt have another next Friday, which will mean Monday is either a write off or another hard fought battle. I just hope it doesn't come home to roost against Leeds.'"
The 3 minute rule is annoying ...
We seem to be playing with pretty low intensity - maybe with an eye to try and get through the tough patch? Wigan obviously played a low intensity game today - difference only being their opposition wasn't good enough to take advantage (hence my pet peeve of us constantly following London in the fixtures, Leeds 2 weeks ago, cas this week and Wigan next will play London before us - there's the true rfl conspiracy!)
To outlast cas is impressive, but when you consider, they've essentially had 2 weeks off to prepare for this, it makes it even more so!

They are great when it is like the Leeds game: two teams going at each other for the full 80 minutes. But games like last week and today show a lack of professionalism in our ranks. Nathan Brown expressed his disappointment at our attitude in the first half, Wello said they were embarrassed by their first half performance (and it was embarrassing) and Josh Jones said he thought they had believed there would be no problem as they were top of the league. Hopefully, this game has shown them that they have to put in the effort against all teams, and not just Leeds, Wire and Wigan.
I hate it when they bring a bad attitude. It's disrespectful to fans and opposition. They didn't deserve to win tonight.
But I'm rather glad they did!
And although Luke Walsh left his best kicking boots in the team coach, he was outstanding once he got the chance to be.

What we have to hope is the fact we are pretty battle hardened from these tough games holds us in good stead! But hopefully we get some gas back in the tank for a big couple of weeks now

| Some thoughts after watching it again.
Soliola and Roby are the only people who can hold their head up in the first half. Walsh played well, but had no runners, or players jogging, so was never gonna look effective. The rest were dire.
Goal kicking. I know it's harsh to pick up given he missed 3 and 2 hit the post, but if he's not right, let someone else do it. 36-28 would have left no room for the "big 4 favouritism" brigade to whinge on this week.
After jones went to centre, cas lost their go to play and didn't know how to alter their game plan subsequently.
Shentons first try was as forward as swifts disallowed try. (And I'm not necessarily saying the American football style pass was forward)
We looked like we needed a talisman, Amor would of gone very well I think.
Wilkin and lms both played well once the momentum changed - but weren't capable of changing it themselves - as senior players, that needs to change.
It was masoes best game so far.

| Pretty dejected as a cas fan tonight. Can only take my hat off to saints though. Saints are the only side in SL who could comeback in that style. The penultimate try was outrageous, unbelievable handling and truth be told deserving of giving you the opportunity to win the game, which you comfortably took!

Nice to see a sensible fan.
Cas were outstanding tonight and I feel lucky to have come away from something with that game. I think in the end your effort throughout the first 70 showed and you just tired at the same time as we picked up which unfortunately for you guys lead to the comeback. If you play like that all year though you'll beat the vast majority of teams and certainly take a good spot into the play offs. Best of luck for the rest of the year.

I agree with everything there apart from the bit about Shenton's first if it's the pass from Carney you mean. Which pass was it?

Plenty of positives. You've got a cracking side there and if you can keep the likes of Huby and Sneyd somehow Powell will put you back consistently at to the standard you were when you had Stuart Raper in the last 90s/early 00s.

Yeah the American football style flick after he caught the kick. I'm not saying it was forward, but it looked very similar imo to the pass to swift that was called forward. (Basically I thought the swift try should of been given )

| I know there's been a few things said about the refs etc but in the heat of the moment its easy to blame anyone but yourselves. Whilst we blew it today,it needed a special saints effort to comeback and win it. Easter is a big time for us (as for most teams) and I feel we need 2/3 to kick us on. Anyway top game.

47035_1386433761.gif We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47035.gif |

| Ok I'll chuck my 2p worth in.
Wilkin at 6 for me was not wise. Should have played Wheeler, surely he could be drafted into the 19 once Lance went down.
Walsh has looked a little ropy since he has comeback from injury.
Makinson is bloomin marvelous this year. Swift is not doing to bad.
Dawson was a bit exposed but I would not blame the first try on him we were majorly outnumbered.
We were sloppy that first half in many aspects, the kick off just emphasied that.
Wellens does bring something to the team, his tackling and his direction are what we needed at the start of that 2nd half.
Jones was a real handful in the 2nd half at centre and it's going to be tricky for Percival to just walk back into that spot. He will have to wait for the Widnes game now.
Walmsley was a bit sloppy, he just seems to be too big for the ball, I know there were hands in a couple of times, but he has to secure the ball better, it undermines his hard work going forwards.
Roby (I'm going to say it) a few errors are creeping into his game, not sure what it is but at times looks less effective. I'm not saying terrible, but can we not rotate him for at least some matches.
Turner was starting to look a little predictable with the flick pass, but he did learn and start holding the ball more as the game went on.
All in all we showed real determination and effort to come back in that match I think Cas fell of a little, some of it from us, but some of it was sloppy passes from them. I wonder if the players from cas felt it was all sowen up at half time and took their foot off the gas a little and where unable to apply it the same again towards the end.

This is the attitude that gets teams to the top.

I think the cameras showed that to be something it actually wasn't. What I think happened was Wilkin dropped the ball, a Cas player made a comment to which LMS gave a retort (probably witty) and Wilkin laughed. You can see LMS is talking to somebody behind Wilkin rather than Wilkin himself.

Makes sense, the Cas lads were pretty on-the-spot and may well have given Wilkin a mouthful. Obviously Louie's retort was a goodun.
