Kris Welham has missed most of the season due to Ade Gardner's shoulder charge on him. He needed to have a season ending operation on the damage it caused to his shoulder.

I don't think so. I'm sure Welham played in the following match.

He did start the next match after having pain killing injections, but did not play again due to the injury. Welham was distraught that he missed the majority of the season and Gardner had a one match ban.

It will be interesting to see what they decide, considering it was a carbon copy of the Taylor incident.

If Taylor would have been (rightly) banned, I wonder whether Catalan would have targeted O'Brien? Just a thought.

Surely the RFL have to act about this now. A shoulder charge that is late should be, at least, an automatic sin bin and/or one match ban. Cheap shots on half backs is surely a question of player welfare and considering that he's been stretchered off with concussion means that it is just as dangerous as contact with the head.

O'Brien getting knocked out two fixtures in a row is not good for the player, other half backs who take the ball to the line and the sport in general.

O'Brien's taking a lot of stick of late. Is he ok?

Probably not. 2 Heavy hits on the head like that means he'll probably be having a week off against London.

He,s had quite a few head knocks since he,s come into the Saints Squad, maybe he struggles with the impact from the "big hitters" more than the normal player, Gilmour was another one who use to struggle as well.
The thing is if the Cats player is adjudged innocent, I would imagine the London Broncos would see it as open season and target O,Brien for a late challenge to destroy his confidence.
