Worst thing with the Wilkin situation imo is the fact we have a young hungry strong runner in Andre Savelio out on loan at cas and probably finished at Saints and we've got a old run down poor player like Wilkin keeping him out.

I think its more that Greenwood, Thompson and Knowles is keeping him out of the side, these 3 are now very much becoming established and providing plenty of energy and contribution to the team. If Sav comes back he needs to really make himself an automatic choice but I'm not sure if Cunningham will give him that opportunity he likes to play percentages and have a few experienced old heads in the team despite low par performances.

At that time Thompson was putting up better performances but picking up injuries, Knowles wasn't quite in the picture in that time frame, Sav has loads of potential but he's a victim of circumstance and had just been overtaken in the pecking order.

At some point someone must have told him he was the next Sinfield, who could run a game from 13.
He was good as a hard working back rower and thats what he should stick to.

Wilkin hasn't been great for a while now, but offers way more to the team than savelio in terms of game management. He still has a good kicking game, he can still make a reasonable job of playing at #7 when required, which has been an awful lot over the years, and he still gets though a lot of defensive work and long minutes every week. Savelio is in no way a like for like replacement particularly with his attitude. Players like savelio and eastmond think they are too good for the club. Let them go.

In terms of game management Wilkin didn't play in the first 30 mins against Wakey and it showed, the pack was head down barge down the middle one at a time then after the 5th tackle Walsh kicked down field . When Wilkin came on we played with a bit more variation in the forwards so he does bring something the team whether its for better or worse.

With the amount of Ex-Saints players running the show at Langtree park a lot of you seem surprised that Wilkin get a shirt every week and plays in key pivotal positions and keeps players out who specialise in them positions. it's almost... It's almost as if the top brass at Saints are looking after certain players...

Typical Wilkin Bashing, Roby was poor last night and it just gets ignored. Wilkin is a quality, vastly experienced forward, yes he has the odd brain fart but who doesn't.

Roby was poor Thursday, in fact he was pretty awful but his poor games are one or two times a year and I'm sure that counts for something.

Wilkin imo has to play at the moment as he's only guy out here that is captain material (not a good captain tho) and we lack leaders so he has to play.

However, his actual performances are not good enough. He's neither a forward as he's to small and not strong enough running the ball, nor is he a halfback as he's no class, no pace and not enough rugby brain..
