| It was just a few little thing that Bennett said that sounded very refreshing, for instance, when we had them pinned back in the opening quarter, he pointed out that Saints knew they had no ball handling forwards, because of this they could be confident about rushing up on the first receiver as the forwards tried to drive out of their own twenty, limiting their go forward considerably.
Obviously, when your listening on the radio, this makes a massive diference, but even on telly, a [ibit[/iof insight would be nice.

Learning stuff like this was why I used to enjoy listening to Premier Sports coverage of the Championship matches as the commentators there, particularly Hendo (plays for Sheffield), used to drop little snippets of insight into the commentary. They also enjoyed a laugh now and again too, showing that entertainment can run alongside informative commentary quite comfortably when done by the right people. Listening to the video ref while he was deliberating was another useful facet of that coverage, which I do miss.

Now we get watch the likes of Ian Smith and Ganson struggle with the rewind button for 10 minutes

| I just want someone who has insight into the game and tells it like it, without any agenda or trying to get a reaction etc.
Having abit of good humoured bias is fine, carragher and neville bounce off each other fantastically in football. But it works because they speak the truth.
Briers would be an interesting choice. I expect he'd need some media training, but as a halfback he'd have that brain and would likely provide good insight into the game, by all acounts he's abit of a joker, so he could inject that humour and shouldn't hide his warrington roots.

I mean in the fact he's played at warrington for nearly all his career, so he'll have a soft spot for warrington.
I don't think having a bias is a problem, as long as it's open and the truth is still spoken (e.g carragher and neville in football), they have humour with it.
It's far worse when it's underhanded, like clarke.

Anyone who a) thinks that Gene Ormsby looks like Sean Connery, and b) thinks it is a good idea to share this with the nation, should not be working in television.

| To be fair, I was in absolute hysterics regarding the Ormsby / Bond comparison. Very, very funny moment and even Clarkey backed up with a 'licence to thrill' comment after Ratchford's try!
Regarding the sky commentary I reckon our very own Paul Wellens would be perfect to have as an analyser / co-commentator when he retires, playing the Gary Neville role in rugby league.

Jamie Peacock says he wants to get involved in the media side of things. I think he'd be great.
