| It was Micheal Monaghan. It put pressure on for sure. But he is not just big and aggressive in the tackle. He does a hell of a lot of talking in the tackle, showing he can keep a cool head and control the tackle well.

18821_1298880800.jpg
I've always thought of McGuire as a good player, and I wouldn't normally wish injury on any player, but there was a certain hint of poetic justice to that.

Another classic:
You forgot to take off the "Saints Reduction Factor" when calculating the ban.
Standard suspension / Saints Reduction Factor = Actual ban for Saints player.
Therefore (2 / 3) = 0.666
0.666 < 1 therefore actual ban equals "less than 1 match".
Therefore ZERO.
Oh I know, theyre actually the sort of stats that have got players dropped to a lower league.

| Some great and some awful stats for the team.
Lance & Ade - you know who I'm talking about !
I'm just pleased my eyes didn't deceive me on the night.

Certain players anyway. Others appear to be entirely immune.

Not so actually. If it hadn't been for Lomax at the back and his great try savers, Wire could have won. While Roby looked more like his old self, Friday was much more of a team effort and we had more than one threat on the pitch.
We had two of them!

Roby’s stats against Leeds were pretty reasonable. It is more like run up in defence and stop the pack from making metres and you beat Saints. If Warrington had tried to run straight against us instead of passing from touchline to touchline they would have probably won. They did seem rather work shy. It is funny you take Morley, Waterhouse and Briers out that team and they look really ordinary.
I guess it was not a game that was won by making big metres. The stats reflect that LMS had a good game, when he has played well we have won and vice-versa. I don't know if that is coincidence or a factor? Again if the Wire pack had been physical then he would have probably not had as good a game.
Hats off to Walker for leading the tackle count, he is starting to look like a hard working defensive forward, more a classic number 12 than a prop. We have been missing someone like that since Mike Bennett retired.
Players like Ade missed a few tackles but that was mostly done coming out the line when Wire had overlaps. You can get a good hit in and it still count as a missed tackle, even if you stop an opponent’s progress enough to kill off the move. I think this is a case of the stats not being fair to him.
One strange one is Flanagan. He seems to do quite a bit during the game but when you look at the stats he has actually not done as much as you think. No big metres and only 20 odd tackles, not the best return for a working forward. You feel he could do a lot more.

| To be be fair to flanagan he did the first 20 when Wire never had the ball ,so pretty difficult to get the tackle count up . On the other hand it does highlight his limitations in attack.
Similar to young Walker who did a great tackling stint last 20mins of the first half and first 15 of second when both teams were in a set for set arm wrestle

| Very impressed with Walker's defence, but the downside for me is Jones' go forward, or lack of it. He offers nothing in attack I'm afraid.

| The one thing stats don't mention is that Hohaia was playing his first game after missing three with his shoulder injury.

| Stats don't give any indication of the game beyond the raw numbers. Ade missed a lot of tackles - but why? Walkers tackling stats were fantastic - but why? the only way stats can be genuinely used is in context with the real game. Warrington's outside backs are very quick and on at least 3 occasions was forced into making a snap decision due to an overlap. Walkers stats were so good because after the first 20 mins, the Wire pack picked up the pace and our central defenders had to do a lot of tackling. With 15 mins to go Wire had used 3 less interchanges and our pack was starting to tire.
My judgement on the stats are that Ade wasn't quite as bad as the stats suggest ( only one try down his side )., and Walkers performance was even more extraordinary given that he also bettered Roby's tackling stats.
Stats don't always tell the truth.

| The best thing that came out of the game that the stats don't cover was our ability to close out the game. This was down to good defence, kicking, discipline and good mistake free rugby in attack. Given how we have lost some big leads over the last few years it is good to see we were able to play in the correct way for this situation.

Kicking out of dummy half was especially good, Roby's kicking game is so underrated.
