| Quote: Gruntfuttock "When Mrs G and I were in there yesterday there was only one poor woman serving and the phone was ringing but as she was away from the counter she couldnt get it, They dont haqve many staff at the best of times but on a bank holiday with the inclement weather i think we should allow for staff shortages and not assume incompentence , maybe illness etc plays a part'"
I hear what you say but other stores around St Mary's seemed to manage to answer phones and have more than one meber of staff according to my bro. I don't blame the staff, they are perfectly nice people; I blame the club management for shambolic service.
I went into the store today and they changed the DVD no probs. They didn't volounteer but admitted when I asked that there was a problem with a lot of the DVD's in that it freezes around halfway.
Was advised that this only applied to the first batch of discs and the second batch which I was being given in replacement was fine. I said I hope so as I've driven from warry.
Just got back home to warry and hey ho - this disc sticks in exectly the same place.
I don't really know why I expected it to be any different.
Suppose I'll make a third journey tomorrow to get a refund as I've no confidence in the quality of the DVD.
Don't want to sound like a moaner, though I suppose I still do! But I have spent just under £250 on shirts, scarfs, polo shirts, bob hats etc I'm totally underwhelmed TBH, having to make three return journeys.

It's hardly the fault of Saints, though, is it, that the DVD quailty is rubbish? That is the fault of the manufacturer. Hopefully Saints will be making their corporate ears burn.

They should play on a DVD player. Mine does, no probs. I bought it from the same outlet as everyone else.

With regard to the DVD's being sold
They are formatted in the -R recording format.
This is incompatible with certain types of DVD players.
you need to check with your players manual if it can play such disks.
Also different manufacturers support different formats
For further info about DVD formats go to the following link.

To be fair - my brother's version works perfectly fine, albeit some of the interviews were missing audio. On the same dvd player, mine wouldn't work at all.
So that's nowt to do with DVD formats, just shoddy dvds.

Not necessarily, I have had dvds that play fine on one dvd player and the pc but not on my other (more expensive) one.

Agree that poor copying will be the fault of some of the issues. However not all.
Sometimes the DVD player itself may be compatible, but have a poor quality laser and lense that has difficulty reading the data.
There are also countless people who treat DVD's very poorly, and allow muck to get on them, which consequently scratches them, and turns them into nothing more than coasters.
Despite the marketing hype which people fell for re alleged durability of cd's/DVD's, they are actually the least durable recording format out there.

I would think that between opening a DVD case for the first time on christmas morning and placing the dvd in a dvd player seconds later, there's little scope for dropping it in a hole full of razor blades and horse dung.

Fingerprints can be enough to cause a player not to be able to read the data.

The data is recoreded in Binary in a series of bumps and lands. One fingerprint on a christmas morning would not be enough to stop the disk from working completely. Their would need to be some sort of damage to the bumps and/or lands in order for the disk to be faulty. In the case where one disk is working on a DVD player but another disk isnt working on the same DVD player; formatting isnt an issue, it is undoubtedly shoddy copying.
