In fairness to Wilkin, with Pryce only pulling out of the semi final on the Friday evening he had trained all week in the back row and was thrown in at H/B without a run out.

I understand what your saying mate but these are professional players who should be able to play in any position. It's no like he doesn't know the calls etc. That's the way I look at it anyway.

That's a ridiculous stance to take, do you expect Graham to be able to play scrum half? Or Foster to play prop?

| For me with Eastmond out Smith should be playing tonight even if Lomax is fit. It gives us a proper 6 & 7 combo and means Roby can stay at 13 with Moore and KC sharing the job at 9

Use a bit of common sense please. Over the years I've been playing rugby, I have play every position apart from prop. Look at the likes of wheeler and lomax who have filled in all positions in the backs. To me that's a sign of a good player.

There is a massive difference between playing in the halves and pretty much any other position. Your expected to make the calls and take the team around the park and at professional levels thats not easy. If Wilkin trained all week at 6 then reverted to the back row thats not an issue however if he's trained all week at back row then is expected to come in and play 6 thats totally different.
Sadly he isnt Scully who in his prime could change between 6 and 13 with ease (mainly because we played a little differently then too i.e we played with a proper 13 not a battering ram)

That works in ameteur rugby, but in the very top of the professional game

Bench looks much weaker with Wilkin in the halves and no Fas.
If that's who we're choosing from, Dixon should start in the back row, Flanno at 13 and TP for some impact from the bench.

I am doing, it's you that isn't. The professional game is a highly specialised game, park rugby isn't. I take it that you also thought you were equally good in all positions? If so, why aren't you a pro?
Some positions can transfer skills, and whilst a stand off may play centre to a decent standard, that doesn't mean a centre can make it at stand off. Would Newlove or Iro make it in the halves? Not to any decent level.

| Fair enough
Let me just point out I haven't always just played amateur rugby and played at a good level, mainly
In rugby union. I have been unfortunate not to have been in the right place at the right time. I'm not saying I was ever going to be a world beater but I could confidently if I was given the chance things might have been different.
Anyways let's hope Wilkin and Smith click tonight and get one foot into the finl

| Quote: Mr. Messy "Hopefully with Graham Cuningham Hargreaves Fa'asavalu Soliola Puletua and Clough up front they'll have a easy platform to play on... Matty Smith showed against us at The Willows he has an excellent kicking game... more so short kicking game (something we don't have much of) which ripped us apart, hopefully he can bring the type of creativity in...?
As for Wilkin... he's done it before... get some of those towering bombs up for Mathers to deal with'"
I guess I got an answer to that question?
