I'd agree with that. Unlucky to find himself in that position, however you can't hit someone that hard (hard enough to injure yourself) and that high and expect to stay on the pitch.

I think we will be looking at two bans next week: Wilkin and Gardner. Wilkin's was entirely unnecessary and Gardner was an idiot, having already run out of the line and left a gaping hole (as he does). Meli looks like he'll be out anyway with a shoulder problem but he may get a further suspension.

Meli was a red card, no debate. I fear Wilkin and Gardner are facing bans after this game too. The shoulder charge ban is a farce. Ban shoulder charges to the head and give players hefty bans, but big standard shoulder charges are part of the game.

If you are going to make a tackle clearly worthy of a sending off and long ban, you need to be hammering the opposition player enough that he can't continue. Oldest trick in the rugby league handbook.

Saints have been allwed to become a very poor side. There are some substandard players in there, coupled with some with big reputations who are playing like puddings (Hohaia not amongst these today - he's been our best player so far). First the woeful Potter, then Simmons, followed by the write-off season under Rush. All this has contributed to our downfall. I was never convinced about Brown, but he's even underwhelming me.

Hohaia has been awful. His defence is lamentable.
