I don't agree with this at all. He showed plenty of skill. If you consider he was playing with an even less experinced half back partner in a team with lots of injuries and changes - I thought he'd showed lots of promise.

| Lomax was being lined up to play full back, but with the Eastmond drama last season, they looked through the squad at who could be a stop gap 7 for the season and plumped for Jonny. Royce sat down with him to do some video analysis and basically showed him how he wants him to play - Jonny took this on board and delivered 100%. As such he has now made the scrum half position his own and unless another coach comes in and signs someone else, he wont be moving anywhere.

I think he did show great promise at 7 but IMO he's to similar to hohaia. I might work but I have my doubts.
We will find out if the holo combo will work pretty soon.

No one would have predicted the emergence of Gaskell and Lomax as our starting number 6 and 7 this season, and I dont think anyone can predict how the team will evolve next season, other than to say that the team at the end of the season is likely to look different from the one that starts the season, at least around the halfback positions. I also dont think that Saints will have anyone defintiely earmarked now to replace Wellens, it could be Lomax, Makinson, Hohaia, Ashe, Gaskell, or someone who hasnt even been tried there yet. It makes sense to consider their options, but it is too early to be handing over the number 1 jersey to any player just yet.

IMO tommy looks the best option at fullba k to replace wello at this current time but anything can happen during the season.
I think it would be a good idea to give tommy a few rubs at fullback in hand picked games or to give wello rests during the season.

I agree, although that will also be influenced by how Lance, Lomax and Gaskell develop. Or Ashe may come in, be a real wow, and play there for the next 10 years.

| Would like to see the prominence of Ashe at full back. If Makinson puts on a bit more body mass and strength without any loss in speed I would like him to come into the centres to eventually replace Meli.
Our successful years is when we have settled half backs, so I would stick with Hohaia, Lomax and Gaskell, any 2 from these 3 would create havoc taking on the line.
For Foster if he can be coached to up a level, then we could have a pretty impressive back line for the rest of this decade, a new dynasty perhaps.

| There will be no dynasty whilst they are still pretending Paul Wellens is up to it. The official website this week boasted about him being one of the best fullbacks in the world this week, so I doubt we'll see any positive movement there this season.

Aye. His most recent saying that it wasn't that bad after all.
He's from New Zealand. They get weather there, too.
