The 3 players i mentioned would not fail in the NRL. Ellis, Burgess and Morely did not fail.
When the world championship gets played and the NRL loses its said its only a friendly they dont take it serious. Bull basically you cant stand losing and nay exscuse will do. And lets not forget the best side in the NRL for the last 3 season or so cheated. And not by the odd thousand but by tens of thousads. The standard for NRL which you all put on a pedastle was a lie. Keep convincing yourself that SL is not getting better and the NRL is going backwards. Remember the best side in the NRL is now losing a chunk of its side and so weakness the best side in it.
Has Budereus enhanced his reputation in SL no he heas not. Matt kng took over 12 months to settle down. He waqs a world class superstar in the NRL. Here he is not. Even now id have Cunningham in my side before Buderus but KC knows when to quit at the top. How many players form the NRL have come here with big reputations only to fail. The English players that go to the NRL dont complain of been homesick.
NRL 5-10 years ago was way ahead as we were letting in too many players from it into SL looking for a pension and a 2 year holiday. With the new franchise system with no relegation lets a coach play the young players without been too worried about the sack. Which is brilliant as it means less NRL players here looking for a pension. Players like Jason Ryles could not hack SL so plays now for GF winnners in the NRL.
NRL overrated.'"
Very poorly constructed post but Barry McKenzie will attempt to decipher what the hell you are on about and respond accordingly.
Despite what you say all 3 of those pommie players HAVE failed.
Eliss bombed many of the sort of chances to score that if you recreated them under scientific conditions it would be proven that my own grandmother would have scored a 4 pointer. He and his side failed to make the grand final. Thats a failure.
Burgess was billed by Russell Crowe as an unstoppable gladiator from the northern hemisphere... the only thing that could stop him was kryptonite... or if you waved a bar of soap at him. He would power Souths to the premiership. Yet Souths failed to even make the 8 let alone make the grand final.
Burgess was built up to be some god like figure by Crowe simply to increase the amount of memberships sold for Souths. And it worked. Sadly he was found out as just another ordinary pom.
Morely was possibly the best of all 3. But he couldnt tackle. His idea of a low tackle was anywhere below the scalp. Time after time he injured himself through his poor tackling technique...thereby he missed a lot of games. That is if he wasnt suspended. Ultimately this cost him his career with the Roosters and he was shipped back home.
Danny Buderus came to England (I believe) when he was about 30. Danny was a good player for the Knights. But like all the good players... they get old. And injured. And like most Aussies when they get old and injured... they come to superleague. Because the game is easier here. And for a pension. And if rumours are to be believed Danny was on heaps of money at Leeds. Who could blame him for coming out of retirement?
English players dont complain about being homesick when they go to Australia. And if you had ever been there you would see why.
I got homesick when I left there a few years ago. I've lived and worked in quite a few countries since I left. But going home is the best feeling ever. It's not surprising Aussie players get homesick when they move here. It's like a different world compared to Oz.
The reasons Australian Rugby league has been so successful at international level for the last 30+ years or more is due to that comment you made. Australians dont like losing. Thats also why England/GB have been so poor and never won anything of note since before I was born. There is an apathy about the poms. They expect to lose. You only have to look at comments people have made on this very forum about Englands chances in the 4 Nations. You are all expecting to get a flogging. That will possibly be the case. But apathy breeds apathy. The team have forgotten how to win. And whats sad is... hardly anyone seems bothered.
I've always said I feel sorry for English RL Fans. They deserve better.
But I cant see when the better times will come.
