Quote: BackrowSaint "LMS was by far our best prop, infact probably our best player against Wigan. He has an absolute stormer and is most definitely improving.'"

I was critical of LMS last year and the start of this year but he's Ben very good since the Leeds game.

He's started running with purpose and doing the stuff a prop should do instead of trying to look flash.

Been the best prop for past month.

I'd like to see some stats for LMS because he doesn't make an impression on me in games at all, except when he misses tackles, which he seems to do quite a bit.

I was of the same feeling but he's really impressed me since Leeds. He's running much stronger and upped his work rate.

Maybe he's better off the bench.

Like to see him move up another notch, more metres more tackles, an 80% Graham would do.

Well, I've just looked at the Superleague website and our best performing prop (assuming he's been playing there: I sometimes struggle to tell!) is Laffranchi, although he's given away the most penalties. Our worst performing prop is Josh Perry, but that's no surprise (and he has now had as many games as LMS). Obviously they will all spend differing amounts of time on the pitch, or I would imagine they do anyway, but as a rough guide LMS comes in second but his marker tackles, for example, are less than half of those done by Laffranchi (at 66) who has played in only one more game than LMS.

Laffranchi has made 271 tackles when compared to LMS, who has made 226 so far (which is far better than Puletua who is comparatively lazy defensively). Laffranchi has made 983 metres to LMS's 886 but that number for LMS will include that almost full length of the pitch hike he did against Leeds. Or was it Warrington? One of those matches anyway so that isn't a true reflection of grafting metres, which is what I'm particularly interested in.

Laffranchi and LMS are similar in terms of offloads, with Laffranchi just edging him.

LMS has missed 13 tackles to Laffranchi's 10.

It's intersting comparing Magennis' stats to Laffranchi. If you take into account the amount of games played and take the stats as an appropriate percentage then Sean Maggenis' picture is replaced by that of a large steaming turd.

Neither really. I would like to compare his stats with those of Laffranchi for the Wigan game but Laffranchi didn't play. I don't think that LMS is as effective when he is challenged by the opposition props but I don't know how to find stats for individual games and so that is just a hunch. I also think he hangs around not tackling at all a bit too much (especially near the goal line). That isn't a hunch. I've seen him doing it. There isn't a 'not bothered to make a tackle at all' section in the stats though!

There is a big difference in the number of games they have played though. I can't say I even thought of Magennis when I was comparing stats. Is he supposed to be playing at prop or second row?

He's been moved into the sole role of Prop this season, even got a start against Wigan(?). Magennis has played roughly half of Laffranchi so double them and add about 15 tackles and 40 metres and that's Maggenis after 10 games.

It would be interesting to compare our props to that of Wigan, Warrington and hudds.

Someone suggested on here that this is one of the best packs we've had in 20 years where i don't agree at all.

2005/6 with Graham, Baloo, KC, Scully, (a firing) Cayless, etc, etc was a pack to be proud of

To be honest, this current pack is up there with the worst we've ever had in super league. It can hold its own most weeks but it's not a pack I'd like to play behind being a stand off.

The same person, even suggested its a aggressive pack which made me pi$$ myself.

we've zero aggression at the moment, anywhere.

A recent post on C&W went along the lines of "they've no players you hate, infact you'd happily go for a pint with any of them!" and that from our derby rivals!

And they are correct.

I'm not saying aggressive like smashing heads and fighting but aggressive where they want to hurt players in the tackle and if trouble does flair up all in as team like Leeds do.

We don't have the aggression to get fired up for them important spells in games like we used to. The wigan game could have turned on its head if we had one of them ten min spells where we smash them and the whole crowd lifts with it.
