| I don't know if wheels has just been desperately unlucky, or his body just physically isn't up to it, like you say you'd hope the club are doing all they can to get to the root cause of all these injuries

Some recurring injuries can start from the most bizarre circumstances, I recall being told about someone with constant back pain and the cause was thought to stem from an ingrowing toenail he'd had when he was younger - The soreness of the toe had made him favour one leg slightly and even after it was fixed he continued to favour the other leg slightly purely out of habit, over time it lead to his spine becoming misaligned hence the back pain.
Thankfully in sport these days they send the players for scans at the slightest twinge so serious things are usually picked up early. My dad played both codes at county level when he was younger but was forced to stop playing at 23 because of bad knees, he would be told years later that it was a simple cartilage problem that these days would be fixed without an overnight hospital stay!

| Hope to see Carl Forster get a game on Friday now then. Heard Wilkins is quite a bad injury.

| Quote: Tony Stark "This is a bit of a growing myth. we have a strong squad of 29 players, even with several injuries. The majority of players in the squad have played more than 10 first team games, in fact only 5 players haven't started a 1st team game and one of them is Josh Perry who has years of first team experience in the NRL.
As much of a biscuit as wheeler has been Saints need to look at why he is constantly getting injuries and whether these are the same injuries recurring. When Sean Long first came to the club he suffered a great number of injuries early in his Saints career but he was able to overcome them and grow into a club legend, I'm not saying Wheeler will become another Sean Long but he needs to be given a chance or we will yet again have wasted years of investment on a player with high potential like Eastmond.'"
Absolutely agree. This is the strongest squad we've had since 2006. Loads of depth in the pack, and some good quality youngsters who can cover across the backs.
Agree on Wheeler also; to me he seems to be well worth persevering with. The worrying thing about him is that he hasn't just been unlucky with a couple of very serious injuries, but rather seems to pick up 2-3 week knocks almost every time he plays. Hopefully he'll get more robust with age.

| Have we anyone out on loan at the moment? I can't remember if we have or not for this season.

| Here is Leeds injury/banned/loan list:
Delaney - Six weeks
McGuire - two/three months
Leuluai - Six Weeks
Peacock - two months
Bailey - one/two weeks
Burgess - awaiting assessment (knee)
Cross - Banned 1 match
Amor - Loan to Wakefield
Ambler - Loan to Harlequins RL
We could be going into this weeks game with no recognised props if it comes to worse with Burgess.
Everyone are having their fair share of injuries so far, part and parcel of the toughest sport in the world imo.

Which he has. Luckily you're playing Salford rather than Huddersfield.

| It's frustrating but sans any information about a chronic, long-term injury, getting rid of Wheeler is silly knee-jerk talk. Given that he still hasn't matured physically injuries are always a possibility.
There's nothing to say that any player from our current squad placed in precisely the same points in time and space wouldn't have suffered the same injuries.

| It's odd that every other player has a rough schedule for return to fitness, yet Wheeler's get's injured and just drops off the radar. Happened last season and it's now happening this season. Odd.

He hasn't dropped off the radar. Simmons said last week that he was about two weeks away from returning. On Twitter, Wheeler himself has said he is due to play in the u20s this weekend.

indeed it is, at his age he should be bouncing back from knocks in days, not weeks.
