| Seems to be slowly dying. Has it finally been strangled by all the negative posters? I must confess I tend to avoid it now because it is such a miserable place. Shame really when this used to be quite a vibrant board. I'm sure it can be blamed on boring saints though.

Not exactly much to shout about is there ? Did you go last night? I've never seen a Saints game with such a bad atmosphere.
I'd say 90% of the fans are bored.

Well I'm usually one of the optimistic ones, but I'm really struggling this year to balance out the negativity on this forum as there is not a lot of positives coming out of games at the moment. I'm gradually losing the will to watch super league these days with all the time wasting, its highly likely that I won't watch the game next season maybe the occasional match and the occasional visit to this forum, our game lacks quality and intensity and walking up to the ground is not very exciting these days.

| Don't think it is the forum completely, several friends who used to be season ticket holders pick their games now, and go to the pub more to watch games cheaper, even when Saints are are home, as others have said no atmosphere, and sick of the constant getting up and down in your seat for those wanting to go for a tray of 4 or 6 more beers?

| Apart from Widnes it's Rugby League that's boring, not a stand out team from the rest.

| There is also an age issue.
I'd be surprised if there were many people on here and other forums under 30.
There is a lack of youth in the side so to speak. They tend to stick to social media.
But when you are younger sport takes up alot more of your spare time. (I used to watch, snooker, cricket even football alot more than I do now) .
If I catch one cricket match a year it's a rarity for me.
I just think we get older and get less engaged, other stuff gets more important, it's less life and death than it seemed to be as teenagers and early 20's.
All the negativity talked on the forums is not necessarily reflective of the views of all fans.
There has been lots of talk about people not renewing the 5 year deal on season tickets.
But the number of fans are turning up.
Last night was a weird one as it was almost a like for like reflection of last years game.
Both games 44-4, attendance last year 10,001 attendance this year 10,008.
I think there has been an OTT reaction since the Salford game. Yes we were poor and yes of course I'd like us to play better. But all the talk about struggling to make the top 8 and sacking the coach was just crazy talk to me.
Do we need to improve, of course. Are we likely to improve - I think we will.
I'd rather there had not been a contract extension given so early in the year. Personally I would have waited the full 2 years before deciding whether to stick or twist on the coach. That was the strangest decision for me as coaches are not like players, you don't need to sign them up early in case someone tries to poach them.
People are quick to blame the coach for picking Turner at halfback, but Burns did not really shower himself in glory last year and the coach is not the type to throw Fages straight in. If it was me I'd have Fages on the bench to drip feed him into the 6 position. However Cunningham is conservative so it's not surprising that he has picked a more slowly slowly route.

The team has projected the boring play into the terraces. Last night was flat and you could hear conversations going on all around the place about what the had for tea, whst work has been like and all other non rugby conversations.
The way I feel at the moment, if I'd not bought my season ticket I wouldn't go as I'm bored to tears.

The game is far too slow these days with loads of rest periods resulting in the lack of fluidity. Biggest gripe from our a bunch of us in the south stand was when Walsh prepares for a conversion, he walks about 30 metres away from the spot has a bit of a chat then he has a drink, strolls up to Gardner for the kicking tee then takes another minute to align things up and eventually takes the kick.
The other incident was 3 mins from half time we were awarded a scrum, forwards again strolled up had a bit of a chat, then they decided which players were going into the scrum, by that time over a minute had gone and we missed our chance of advancing up the field for a last play near there try line. If we had 1 minute and 30 seconds to go I very much doubt Walsh would be all that bothered of going through the scrum feed process.

| I think forums follow the trend of the main subject, in this case Saints = uninteresting.

Walsh is doing my head in with his goal kicking. Takes far to long. Even on his penalty kicks to touch, he has a time out with the team. Kick it into touch FFS and get on wirh the game.

| Youffs of today probably just use the Facebook group, which is amazing fun after a game, whatever the result, say sack the coach and you get multiple threats, people really do get upset over a keyboard!

What a very good post! Living a long way away, this forum has been my main link to the Saints for many years. So it is a shame to see it starting to fade away, but I guess things come and go. Maybe Facebook is the way to go even with the nutters in there! Pretty sue though that this forum isn't really a reflection on the majority of speccies or their views on the club and players, even if the style of play isn't quite millward esque!

| also with regards to the above, people often think Facebook is taking over, but it clearly isn't facebook Rugby groups are honestly some of the worst groups I have ever seen for chat, they are filled with vitriol, abuse, language and some of the worst spelling known to man.
That is why many people stick these forums, we are as popular as 5 years ago, and don't forget we are donating £1000s per year to Rugby League related good causes.

| I think the whole club is on downer and then shows on here. If we'd won 4 out of 5 playing good rugby then everyone would be in high spirits but when watching the most boring side in super league it just causes a down feeling.
The board will be very busy post Good Friday imo.
