| For a number of years now you've always seemed to be short at halfback. Wilkin and Wellens playing last night, do you have any up and coming youngsters that could take the rein?
(Doesn't seem to be doing you any harm as you won last year!!!!!)

We've produced a few halfbacks tbh. Matty smith, kyle Eastmomd, jonny lomax (now playing fullback), lee Gaskell, Garry wheeler and Even Scott Moore who was brought thru as a half.
Just didn't work out for one reason or another.

As Pete says we have produced a few but we do always seem to be a little light. Latest youngster is called Hewitt but he wasnt deemed to be ready last year and Cunningham has chosen to play a 35 year old former fullback infront of him so far this year so I guess he still isnt ready (maybe never will be)

| Wellens has been out since the beginning of the season.
Upon arrival he scores his 199th(?) try with some top play.
He then pulls off a miracle defensive in-goal save which is right up there with KC running down Smith.

And by the looks of it, Wellens will be holding his fullback role for another season, as Lomax challenges Wheeler for the biggest biscuit award...

Harsh on lomax as he did knee ligaments. Works both ways. People can't call lomax biscuit when he's played 5 more games this year than walsh.
Seems on this site that some people like to put aussie, kiwis and Samoans before english players and give the overseas players more credit.
Walsh is great player and I loved seeing him play for saints but his injury record at saints is pretty bad. Calf injuries, back injuries and broken leg in one season is pretty bad luck!
Can't wait to see Walsh, burns and lomax all on the field but with Walsh and lomax injury record I can't see it ever happening.

Transparent Backgrounds/Kermit%20the%20Frog.gif Tweet from @martinoffiah 23/08/2011: 'Must admit i did love watching Saints- Cunningham Joynt Longy Tommy then Leon, last classic RL team ever'. Even the dark side can't help but love the rebellion.:Transparent Backgrounds/Kermit%20the%20Frog.gif |

| Walsh wasn't particularly injury prone in the NRL, was he? Broken leg aside, the other injuries appear to be preventable. Maybe bad conditioning over here?

You of course forgot to mention the bit where he was turned inside out by a second row and ended up flailing round on the deck. Wello has been a great player but he's never a halfback in a million years and he's too slow for a modern fullback.

Interesting that Gary Wheeler struggled to make it through a game without picking up some kind of knock yet seems a little more robust at Dire so far. Maybe just bad luck
