Bit vague on info?
How Long contract?
No coaching staff announced?'"
Be fair, the head coach announcement deserves an announcement of his own
My guess is they're still figuring out how the backroom team will work with Long and what role Wellens will play. I'd imagine Wellenswould work great with the back 3 in particular, but where does that leave Jamahl as backs coach?
I'd also imagine even with those two appointments there's money left over from Browns wage (if rumours are to be believed) which we'd be foolish not to invest in other areas of the coaching staff...

| Well the secret is out and to be fair because it was the front runner for the job, there was not going to be a huge earth quake in terms of the responses.
All that was out of the way the week Brown (or his dad) announced he was going.
Good Luck to Kerion. I'm sure he'll get 100% backing from everyone on here.

Indeed he will. Well, apart from the Chief who keeps saying he's not happy with this.
Just hope the assistants are well thought out and that there is access to some form of consultant should KC need some guidance along the way. I would have liked to have seen him out with one of the 4N squads learning the ropes, potentially Aus or NZ.

| I'm made up. Purps should be his number 2.
Seriously though, I'm chuffed. St.Helens fan who went on to be one of our greatest ever players. He might not have been at any other clubs but he's played under quite a few quality coaches in McRae, Hanley, Millward, Anderson etc etc He'll know what's expected.

| I hope I am wrong but I don't like this appointment.
He has no experience of being a head coach at any level.
His previous role as forwards coach/conditioning coach was not hailed as a success. The team often looked out of shape (we miss Apollo, etc.) and the forwards often got out muscled by smaller packs.
His status (quite rightly) as a saints legend makes sacking him if he is not up to the job very difficult. The club will not want to do it and the fans may revolt if it is done.
He has only ever been at Saints so he can't pull any strings to bring in players using external contacts. You doubt that many players outside of St Helens would want to play for a KC coached side.
He has played for several years with our captain (Wello) who Brown had (rightly) worked very hard shift from the team. Will there we a conflict of interest for KC, will Wello react well of KC does something he doesn't agree with etc. etc.
Anyway hope I am wrong. We will find out in the next couple of weeks if this is the correct choice.
Best of luck to him.

This is a shocking comment. You seem to be implying that because he is St.Helens through and through, only local lads would want to play for him. That's ridiculous.
If this was the case, how did Shaun Wane get Clubb, Sarginson, Bateman, etc to sign for Wigan?

Whilst I think the point is poorly worded, he might have a point. Not so much getting players on board, but does KC have the contacts (especially in Aus) to stay ahead of the game, like Brown did with Walsh and Masoe for example?
This is my only reservation on the appointment...

I believe he's referring to players from the NRL. It is a perfectly valid point IMO. Some coaches will have played or coached in both competitions, giving them access to people they have worked with previously. For example Nathan Brown would have been able to pick up the phone to a number of coaches and players he'd worked with in the past from the NRL and ask about availability of players. It will be more difficult for KC, as he won't have the same network of contacts, having never played in the NRL or coached anywhere.

Lol. I'ts not that I'm not happy at the thought, because I dont doubt that KC will be a successful coach, I'm just skeptical about the prospect of an ex-player getting his first head coaches position at one of the biggest clubs in world rugby league. Regardless of how much experience you have as an assistant, the position of head coach is a different ball game, just ask Royce Simmons.
I really hope for his and for the clubs sake, he goes on to be the most successful coach in the clubs history, but if you look at others who have done the same thing, you can't deny the law of averages is stacked against him.
I really hope my reservations are proven wrong.

| I'm prepared to wait and see but if he carries on with the style of play introduced by Brown it could all end in tears. Grand Final or not, the last two seasons play has not been that inspiring.
