I have no real allegiance or dislike to them, however I think the whole RL family should rally round clubs in times of difficulty.

I did, btw. I've retweeted the hashtag tweets for Leigh.

It's a shame about Leigh but maybe they have to go through the same process that Gateshead, Hunslet, Doncaster, etc, have done in order to survive in the future. As seen by the clubs I've just mentioned, administration/liquidation need not be the end of the road, just the beginning of a more appropriate journey. Cru are going through the same thing too.

According to the Leigh website, their owner has said he will not let the club go into administration Not sure what the fuss is about at the minute, seems to be rumour central, until something concrete is announced, I don't see the point in pressing the panic button.

To be honest yes I did. However because that came and went in the blink of an eye no-one really had the option.

Also this is different as Crusaders were a relatively new club whereas Leigh are one of the found members.

Is it just me thinking it, or is it merely par for the course for Leigh having financial difficulties every few years. They just dont seem to learn.

I get the impression the people of Leigh regard themselves as a big club and spend accordingly, rather than cutting their cloth as is appropriate.

All the other clubs who have their income topped up by a benefactor would be in exactly the same position if they pulled out in mid season (Arthur Thomas had to withdraw his funding as his business went bankrupt because of money owed by another company who had since gone bust).

As I'm sure would be the case if McManus had to pull out at Saints, or Lenaghan at Wigan, or Moran at Warrington. I imagine most clubs are the same, and live pretty much on a knife edge. The sport as a whole isn't sustainable at present, losing clubs from the game, such as Leigh seems almost inevitable.

I wouldnt mind but Leigh sports village was built and was supposed to be their saviour, now their fans complain that its actually a millstone round their neck.

Perhaps the Leigh sports village is in itself a sign of the hubris of the people of Leigh. A stadium built far in excess of what they needed. In reality a small 6k stadium would have been enough for the Centurians and Leigh RMI.
When you think about it, Leigh in a good year only average 2500 fans. Therefore why build a 12k stadium.
It is the equivalent of Wigan building a ground the size of Old Trafford.

Leigh are definately in the mire. My bosses son plays for them and they have been told they are being paid this month but late and not sure about any future pay. They were hoping that the RFL had just one league below superleague as they say there is just not enough home games with the spectators to make it viable. Feel for their players and fans really.
