| I have been having a discussion with our less intelligent friends from the other side of 'Th Lump' and I believe that Rangi Chase deserves far more credit than he has recieved this year. They argue that it is easy for him to stand out in an 'average' side whereas I believe its harder to get true recognition for your work when surrounded by weaker players as you have very little support for example not much platform to play off.
Am I right or wrong

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Quite?
Believe it or not not everything is about Wigan and your pecious little SAM. I was stating a fact about Chase and you thought it would be worth singins Tomkins praise and other past Wigan players.

| I think its great news that he's shown loyalty and sticking with Cas next season. They gave him his chance to prove himself in super league and he must be greatful for that. You don't get that much these days because players just move for money. Going to Wigan, Warrington or any other top team doesn't mean it will work out good for him. What will Ratchford achieve at Warrington? I think he will struggle to get to get into the team.

Look how Danny Orr faired for Wigan after starring for Cas 1st time round.

it's not a case of staying loyal, he now has been found guilty of an offence that carries a custodial sentence, said sentence is suspended at the moment, if he leaves Castleford he has to re-apply for a visa, which the smart money says he wouldn't get.
to answer the question, yes, he deserves way more credit than the goon fans are prepared to give, but likewise "Stupendous Sam" isn't quite the messiah they think he is, one day soon he'll get thumped for his whining and cheating ways by someone bigger who doesn't care about the consequences.

I'm with you. You just need to remember how little airtime the up and coming players at Quins get - and Dan Sargeson (sp?) may be a genius but would we know? - to realise that being in a team that doesn't have cash to burn and influence to make means it is more difficult to prove yourself as a fine player. Also, it is quite likely that the team around you will not all play to your standard, so the chances to truly shine will be difficult to come by. Rangi Chase shows flashes of brilliance in most of the matches I have watched him playing - that pass at Hull KR for example was just amazing (far better than anything Sam Tomkins has come up with, that's for sure!). But playing with players who are not as good as he is means that that talent will always be pegged back. Yet in spite of that, Rangi Chase still manages to show those flashes of brilliance.

Completely agree with this.
He is probably the most naturally gifted player in the SL,IMO.

I agree. I think he could look even better under Millward, given Millward's tendency towards a more expansive style of rugby and looking at how he has brought on Jamie Ellis.

| They're both very skilful and attract attention because every now and then they will do something spectacular but their total contribution to a game pales by comparrison to Roby/M. Monaghan/Leulai.
When it comes to awards they're the guys who should be getting the plaudits.
