I know it's probably been asked a few times, but how many free spots do we have for next season ?

We have offered both Anthony Laffrinchi and Trent Waterhouse deals for next year. Anthony Laffrinchi holds an Itallian passport and wouldn't be counted on the overseas quota. Trent Waterhouse, however, would be counted.

Thanks a lot, plenty of room to go scouting the NRL then assuming we have the money. Wouldn't mind Waterhouse and Laffranchi if the rumours are correct.

Yeah we should have plenty of cap space. With Eastmond and now Graham gone, they were both on large contracts. Pryce may be leaving who again is on a big contract and Flannery will likely be leaving who will be on a fairly big contract.

If TP goes that will free up more cap space, but I would definitely prefer it if he stayed.

I'd like to see Waterhouse, Laffranchi and a good prop brought in and keep Puletua. Even with Jammer gone that'd make for a formidable pack. Lomax will probably be a direct replacement for Pryce so we should have money to go shopping.

If we could keep TP a starting pack of Perry, Roby, TP, Laffrinchi, Soliola, Waterhouse would be outstanding. Though id we were to bring in another prop I would like it to be an English prop, preferably quite young. I don't want to see a Saints team with too many Australians.

I can't really think of many English players I fancy to be honest. We'd have to realisticly look at the likes of Crabtree, Huby, Mason as an English alternative. I think Huby would do a decent job to be fair, been playing really well for Cas recently, up until his injury on monday.

There's a few knocking around, Keith Mason is OOC and there's been rumours about Chris Hill from Leigh. I'd rather we didn't use up all our quota spots and nurtured some English talent. After all, we're not Hull KR.

Forgive my ignorance, but who is Chris Hill ? I've seen his name banded around on the rumour thread but not heard much about him. Is he any good/ super league standard ?

For me, I think he is very good. Admittedly I've only seen him a couple of times but when I have I've been impressed. He is a tireless prop who isn't scared of putting in the hard yards. I think he's only about 22 too.

The Leigh fans speak very highly of him and do see him as being their James Graham. Carried their pack with passionate efforts.

It's whether he could make the step up, signing a championship player and expecting to replace James Graham is a near impossible task. I think it'd be a huge risk, if he was the only prop we signed for 2012 and Puletua goes.

If Puletua goes as well we definitely need to sign a top class prop. As it is, I don't think Graham is replaceable and Chris Hill certainly won't fill that void alone. However, we do have the likes of LMS and Clough who are young now and can make the step up.

If we keep TP and use him as an out and out prop then signings of Laffrinchi, Waterhouse and Hill may be enough. If TP goes we're going to have to do some serious recruiting.
