I think a Trophy count would still show Saints as the most successful but "Greatest" well a team would have to go a long long way to beat Saints of 2006 only losing 4 game IIRC by a total of 10 points was it and won every trophy, cup and accolade going

| youve got to admit though it takes a bit of doing 3 grand final wins on the trot against the same team

I'm finding it hard to think of a reason why the Leeds team that won it's 3 times on trot isn't the best team.
I think our 2006 team is better but they have done it for 3yrs now which takes some doing!

For a start off, we are still one ahead of them on the Grand Finals tally sheet (in that we won the equivalent, the Championship, in pre Grand Final superleague). Also, we have more additional silverware than they do and our team of 2006 swept all before them. Leeds haven't done that.

I don't think so because it would be impossible to compare the two if that was the case. Leeds had Buderus this year but didn't last; they had Scruton last year but didn't this year. Next year they won't have Smith, etc, etc. Teams change every year so we cannot possibly compare teams in the sense you appear to mean it. Teams as entities that represent clubs is how I was taking it and I think that's a more realistic representation.

| Three Grand Finals on the trot is incredible stuff and Super League's greatest ever achievement. However, in terms of great individual side (i.e. sole year), the Super League XI Saints turned in the greatest season and pushed the competition forward in a like not seen before.
It is a great Leeds team, probably the best in their history, however I feel that each team has been beatable which is not something I would say about the greatest ever individual sides. You can't even judge it by trophy haul because I would say that the best Wigoon teams I saw during their dominance were not necessarily the most successful. IIRC it was the Graeme West team (or was it Doraghy or both) that delivered the grand slam or near enough but the best I saw were the one that won their first league title and the Gene Miles one. The former only lost two games I think and raised the quality of play up (particularly on defence) to a new level. The latter side was just brilliant.

| Well, if we're talking about a sole year then I can't see anyone beating our year of 2006 when we swept all before us, lost only four games and never by more than four points.

| Leeds have appeared in 5 out of the last 6 Grand finals and have won 4 out of 5 with the last three on the trot. Surely this record of success for the most important trophy in our game says it all!

| This Leeds team are the greatest Leeds team of the SL era but not the best or greatest team of all the SL teams in the SL era. They have a bit to go yet before they can wear that mantle.

| You can twist anything to suit your own argument
I for example, as a biased Leeds fan, would say that Saints won that title due to the fact that all their main rivals were absolutely garbage that year. For example Leeds got beaten in the playoffs by Warrington at home IIRC, and got thrashed by Huddersfield in the cup semis.
Saints beat a very average Hull in the Grand Final, and that Huddersfield side in the cup
Bradford, Wigan and Leeds all had awful seasons
I think there have been far more great Saints sides than that one, and you are doing your club a disservice

| This current Leeds team ain't changed much over last 3yrs so IMO it's got to be best team in super league era.
The 2006 saints would beat this team IMO but we can't ignore the facts, they've won it 3 on trot.
It's hard one really to pick us or Leeds but this team of leeds will go down in history.

Not really. We played had incredible defence that year and with Jamie Lyon on the ouside we were capable of winning every game. Our losses that year were by a grand total of ten points (16-19 at Hudds, 26-27 v Hull, 18-20 at Bulls and 22-26 at Catalans).
