Au revoir Jase. It's been a tough time for us all recently seeing him struggle but as his departure has now been announced, albeit by Purtill and not by the club, we should remember how good a player and how brilliant a man he has been at the club. A top professional who has worked tirelessly for the club and who would IMO, were it not for a ridiculous run of bad luck, have gone home a hero. He'll now go home with a mute departure, which is a shame because he was a fantastic player for us.

All the best for the future and whatever venture you turn your hand to now big fella!

Hopefully he can get back for one last gallop in the V.

Tis not the fault of the man that his body failed him. I bet he is as gutted about this season as we are.

I wouldn't have thought so. He will have been paid all the way through whereas we have been one player down all the way through.

To be honest, I'm not bothered about losing him. All I would like to see is a prop who is going to be playing for us for most of the season rather than spending most of the season not playing for us.

I think if he had left after 2006 he would be held in the same regard as Dave Fairleigh, he was that good that year. Best of luck to him.

I suppose David Fairleigh was rubbish aswell?

Cayless was fantastic in 2006 and for the majority of 2007. We've missed him for basically 2 years now and we'll miss him when he goes.

So, he can't be a fantastic player in one season. But Lyon can be a 'legend' in 2?

Hmmmm.

I'm gutted to see Jase go, but the time was right I guess. icon_sad.gif

We,ve certainly missed his offloads this year, he put in 100% in every game.
Wish him all the best on his return to down under.

Cayless when fit was one of the very best international props around. Unfortunately his career appears to have been cut short by the now infamous "chicken wing" tackle.

I recall KC commenting upon the impact of Cayless when he first arrived at the club. Cayless led the pack in 06 and 07 and KC attributed our improvement defensively to him due to his line speed in defence and athleticism.

He is only not bracketed in the same light as a Britt or Fairleigh due to the injuries in the last few seasons but he was a very good prop that we will have difficulty in replacing.

Mal Meninga

Cayless was the corner stone of 2006. He was a classy prop, lots of hard yards, always had an offload coming. Christ, he even had an excellent .

Ricky stuart said Cayless had 0% body fat when he was at the Roosters and one of the best props around. Shame about his injuries.
