G'day,

Surprised no ones mentioned this before. On Bootsnall last night Eddie referred to the Cunningham thumping incident and said they'd had hundreds of emails about it, the gist being that it was disgusting that he (Cunningham) had "got away with it". Well, I saw the incident for the first time on the programme and immediately thought that it was innocuous and the Wakefield player totally overreacted. Then they went on about Cunningham fracturing the man's eyesocket. The same is in the Daily Mail (Tuesday). This is not the case as Wakefield have said it isn't fractured and the player is available for selection this weekend. The world at large now thinks Cunningham is a thug because of these comments in the national media. I bet there will be no correction in the Daily Mail nor on Bootsnall next week. The RFL panel obviously had the same opinion as myself - hence the caution and not a ban.

Billy

Your a biased numpty.

It was an innocuous challenge, and rightfully no ban. But what a ridiculous comment to say the player over reacted. He was laid there for 2 tackles after the incident, until you scored. Then he was taken from the field not to return. He was hardly over reacting.

I agree, to me it was just Cunningham wriggling about trying to get up, the guy shouldn't have been holding him down.

Too true, I wondered if Saints should have been complaining on his behalf about the coverage from Sky. Talk about over egging something in the name of sensationalism, I bet this coming weekend we see several 'worse' incidents and none will be mentioned and none will attract 100 letters from Wigan fans asking for them to be banned.

Maybe, maybe not. However the point is that everyone in the media says Cunningham fracture the man's eye socket, and he hasn't.

Especially given that they claimed Stosic had a broken eye socket when in fact he's fine and playing next week. I can't believe how inept (if that is what it is) they are at times.

Grassy knoll, cars in the tunnel, moon shots in a hanger. Cunningham's fist clenched, while carrying the ball; travels 6" and breaks eye socket of player who recovers in 3 days to train and play in the next round of SL.

I heard Stosic's head fell off when they got him into the treatment room.

Seems as if he does have a rlfractured eye socketrl but is able to play.

Quote: I think Mick Potter was exactly right, "Saints coach Mick Potter felt that was unneccesaary as contact was accidental and Kear agrees.

"I think Mick Potter was exactly right," he said. "I thought all Keiron was doing was clearing some space to attempt to clear the ball.

"We are not in ballet dancing, it is rugby league. I really didn't see much at all in it.

"I would have been very surprised if he had been suspended and I'm glad he hasn't. He is a good guy and isn't that type of player."'"

So why did Wakefield announce on their website on Monday that it wasn't if in fact as they are now claiming it is? Hmmm and why would you consider any player taking to the field if indeed they had a fractured eye socket? If I was one for conspiracies I'd say they got into trouble over the claims that it was fractured and then saying it wasn't and now they are trying to cover their own backs. But only of course if I believed in conspiracies.

Didn't Roby play against Wigan once with a hairline fracture in his cheek?
