Hi All, Not sure if anyone has seen the press release in the Knowsley Papers or on the RFL website, but tomorrow marks a big day in the history of Rugby League in Liverpool when Rugby League returns to Huyton after nearly 25 years away. This is when the newly formed Huyton Bulldogs open age team take on the Chester Gladiators in the Rugby league Merit League. The lads have worked hard in training and it promises to be a good game, so if your not busy and dont want to watch the goons on TV then get down to Jubilee Park (Dinas Lane/Twig Lane) In Huyton at 2:30 to watch what should hopefully be a good opening game to the season. Is it really that long ? Scary !
Played against Huyton Tigers a few times and they subsequently moved and merged with ourselves , my club at that time being UGB. There were some tough lads playing for them at the time and some decent rugby players. 'Scouse Macca 'who watches Saints was one of them for anyone who knows him.

Never heard of huyton hornets but i had year or so playing for Huyton Tigers as a kid, mid 70's, and seem to recall they only ran junior sides. |

I actually bumped into an old teamate who joined from the Huyton club. The open age was the Hornets and the juniors was Tigers so that is that cleared up ! |
