| Looking at Robes tonight I really do think we have to think very seriously about his replacement - and soon. It's not that Roby underperformed. Far from it. But a player of his ilk who relies an awful lot on being one of the fittest on the pitch can only keep going to the well for so long. Look at O'Loughlin at Wigan. Another player who, in his prime, possessed endless reserves of stamina and yet so far this season he's been significantly shy of his best.
Given Roby's age there's an increasing likelihood he'll begin to break down. Right now we'd be in serious trouble if we lost him. But it's next season which concerns me. Yes, we've got one or two of the youngsters coming through. But if Roby went down in game one of next season with a major injury - could we overcome it with the current players?

They look the obvious candidates. But neither has held down the hooking role for any length of time. We can't even be sure Lomax's body is up to the task. Hell of a risk to take given that Roby is crucially important.

| This is atime when the sts may struggle, roby in his pomp was way ahead of any other hooker, and for you to get anywhere near his quality, you guys will need to pay big $$...

| I,m hoping Charnock gets a bit more game time, didn,t look out of place when he was Roby,s deputy. He has a decent pass and good vision of the game, dont think we will find another Roby as the quality of players gets more difficult.

I don't disagree, but the same was said about Newlove, Lyon, long, Martyn, Cunningham, Sculthorpe, Wellens, Graham etc etc
Our club has replaced many greats over the years, it's never easy but we'll keep on trucking

| Roby was the true man of the match! better than he has ever been last nigh, admitted three tries on debut is attractive to select as MOM but still feel James had it by a mile.

Thought Roby could have done a few more scoots last night, the Giants had the first pass out of dummy half well covered by moving up off side, there were a few chances at the marker to make more ground and opportunities of a break from the PTB.

| Roby usually deserves MoM most weeks, but it would probably be boring doing that. It's just accepted that he is our best player, but does it with no fuss. Rather than planning for when he breaks, which he will, I've been saying for a long time that we should be spelling him. Now is the time to blood charnock at number 9, even for just 20 mins a week. I would prefer to do that than have flash on the bench, who offers very little. Reduce roby's workload and prolong his career.

Roby should have being spelled for years. No player shouid have to do the work he does. He needs looking after as he's very important to us.

| But then you look at Wigan who spell McIlorum and some fans want him to do the 80 as they reckon they lose something when he's not on the pitch.

MM doesn't play like Roby tho. Roby is all action in attack and defence which obviously takes it toll. No doubt we would lose something if roby was spelled as Hes worldclass but to prolong his career it has to be done. He's picking up more injuries than ever before the last few years.
Id rather let Roby rest during a game than to lose his for large parts of the season and have him the extra few years we'd gain from resting/spelling him.

| I'm amazed we haven't had any real cover for James Roby ever since Cunningham retired in 2010. 5 years down the line and we still don't and it doesn't look as if we're going to sign anybody for next season to cover him either.
Roby is such a key player, if he went down with an injury we'd be screwed so to not have that cover is insane in my view.
