| Quote: "This is in reply to comments from talk some sense regarding andres attitude. I don't know who you are or what you suspect
You might know about him but I can assure you it does nothing to help the situation when comments like this are put out
there. It's not the first time it's been brought to my attention so this time I will stand up for him.
In February last year andre had a first team contract, his licence, a car hed saved hard for, a great set of friends - he had
everything he had worked hard to achieve. Overnight that changed he was rushed to hospital. Still in his saints kit from training with mud on his hands, unable to talk or walk. He was treated for suspected meningitis/encephalitis. It was touch and go for 24hrs but he pulled through. From then on andre struggled daily, helped by saints andre was in and out of hospital and eventually in december Andres condition was diagnosed by walton neuro he had auto immune encephalitis
we were told he was very lucky he could have died or been left disabled. He began treatment which was only completed
six weeks ago.
Andre has battled back and is still so every day. How he debuted against leeds i still cannot believe. He had to resit his licence which he lost, he missed preseason
because of medication so he is behind everybody else. He has been left with mood and motivation disorder that we are
working on and he is getting better.
He has turned down nrl and saints offers until he knows that h3 can be as good as he was and intended to be.
He has got through this 18months with the help and understanding of nathan brown, the saints dr, derek traynor, mike rush and all the players at saints who we are grateful to.
Andre wants to be a great player for saints but at this moment in time as his mother im grateful to have him alive
and will continue to stand by him.
I think some comments are better kept to yourself unless you know the facts as in this case they are certainly not conducive
To the healing process.
Thanks'"

| I just thought it was generally accepted by most that if you where on deaths door, then you are going to take a while to come back.
We all saw what he could do and yes we all want him in the team, but I think backrow said that they are trying to get his fitness up in the academy and so I've just gone with that.
Don't think anyone has questioned his attitude on here. Which is a first for us as we've called everyone else fit to burn.

| Like I've been saying all year when people bagging Brown for not playing him.
The lad was very ill, he also a bad injury and he's still a young lad.
Can't just throw him in.

| A few on here have been questioning why he hasn't played more games. To be fair I have wondered about his absence, but that quote from his mum explains everything.

Exactly.
Can't blame fans for questioning why the coach hasn't played more of a player who can make the yards he can when those fans don't know the full story. It's ok Pete saying Savellio has been ill but I would imagine most of us would assume that an ill player can't play rugby league given the physical resources needed to play the sport so therefore it would be safe to assume he had recovered. I know I certainly assumed he had recovered.

I think I said basically what his mum said numerous times.

| Shocking to read. Why didn't the club communicate this? Even if not a massive press release in as much detail as that statement, but just a note that he's been ill and it'll take time to get him back to 100%?

They did, people chose not to listen. It was re-iterated on here numerous times, people still chose not to listen. Brown out.

| People never listen.
Although to be fair it was only the coach called into question here, not the player.
The coach gets paid the big bucks and can take that kind of flack.

Saints announced at the time he had meningitis and was ill. He didn't play a single game for 7 month plus he also picked up another injury.
Everyone bagged Brown for not playing but obviously Brown and the club know better than fans.
Same with Charnock, he's not ready and you can see that when he plays u19s. Brown has stated Charnock isn't ready yet but still fans calling Brown for not picking him.

You know I'm far too important to actually read between the lines as well as along them. Be more specific next time.
So what's up with Charnock then? Just not good enough? He looked a very fine physical specimen over a year ago when he played against Salford in the snow, can't see it being physicality that's keeping him out.

IMO he's not good enough. Size wise hes ready but playing wide he's not. Let's be honest, he'd pick him if he was ready as our whole season is in serious doubt now.
Nobody can expect a coach to ruin a young kids career if he's not ready. Look at Gaz Frodsham. He was saints captain and England captain but wasn't Ready.

| After reading the quote from Mrs Savelio, pulling on a first team shirt every week is not quite the priority.

There's more to "being ready for first team" than just physicality - the mentality, and maturity are as, if not more important.
Charnock has every chance of being a top class player imo (even if others disagree) - but that is in the long term. We shouldn't (and aren't) letting shortsightedness risk that. Kevin brown is a classic example of someone who was thrown in too early and has spent his entire career recovering from it...
