This is how I would have them Line up
Wellens
Foster
Shenton
Jones
Meli
Hohaia
Lomax
Perry
Roby
McCarthy-Scarsbrook
Laffranchi
Soliola
Flannery
Dixon
Magennis
Clough
Flanagan
Give foster some stability playing him along side Shenton and keep with Jones and Meli on t'other side as it seems to be going ok that partnership.
We still have a solid pack for the game also, and I can imagine Widnes will be well up for this game as it could be the jump start their season needs too

| I'd be tempted to go with:
Wellens
Foster
Shenton
Jones
Meli
Hohaia
Lomax
Perry
Roby
Laffranchi
Soliola
Flanagan
Flannery
Clough
Magennis
LMS
Dixon
Not too dissimilar to above but would keep Laffranchi in front row. Hopefully being dropped has made Foster realise he isn't an automatic selection for his kicking and he will start to perform again

| Snap, before the squad announcement I had a similar line up in mind but thought Makinson would get the call up before foster. If we where playing a team outside our division. I'd be tempted to give Greenwood a run out too and rest an older hand.
So much for those spouting the demise of our younger players, just because they have had a few games out. I think Rush also said he thought swift may get some games this year too.

From my POV the issue was with Makinson and Dixon given their great form this season. There was no earthly reason to drop either and yet both have been dropped.

Well some would say there was every reason to drop them, the team was lacking experience to steady the ship. Changes were made and the ship steadied.
Simple really

I know. However, he wasn't when Rush was first appointed, as you well know.

It's alot easywe for rush to drop the young lads then it is for him to drop the senior players if we didnt have injuries the team would pick itself with all the senior players plus wheeler and lomax all the youngest wouldnt get nearer the first team because rush and Cunningham won't drop they mates or the senior players

| It's quite obvious that the youth players were dropped as the new coaching team went with experience to steady the ship. It's pretty common knowledge that the best situation is to drip feed youth into a team and that is what they did until injuries forced their hand somewhat.

| I concur, I think what happened was the new coaching team saw the rush to youth above all as leaving us open across the feild and it did the young players no good at all to be learning first grade RL alongside other newbies.
It was a return to the previous era of Mcrea, Millward and Anderson, where players where dripped in for a few games on the run, then given a few games rest. Roby, Graham and even Wellens, were all drip fed into the team using this system. They would have a patch of 4 to 5 games then be given a similar amount of games off.
I would say that the playing of Wheeler and Josh Jones in the centre shows that they will play new faces. They could have played Sia or Flannery in the centre slot for Wigan or Cas. Injuries may mean he stays in place a little longer than planned.
