I like Carney's commentary, he speaks more sense than Eddie and Stevo do anyway.

What stuck me was (once again) Stevo was completely oblivious to the rules when they were discussing Meli's try when the VR was deciding - Carney brought up some technical reasoning which Hemmings (to his credit) discussed and questioned, but stevo was just blathering on as usual.

I thought he was very funny Carney; was laughing when Eddie offered him to go and tell Fielden himself and he said "um..er..I think i'll stay here thanks Eddie" icon_smile.gif

Carney is good value.

Only thing i disagreed with yesterday was when Coley ripped the ball from Dixon, and Bentham gave it to Wigan as a knock on and Carney said "the ball carrier must be responsible for the ball".

Bear in mind this is Bentham, who when he reffed Leeds vs Wigan in the CC, said to the tackler "you are responsible for your arms", then had a complete change of mind, when it came to the same situation yesterday.

I quite like the fact that this is down to the ref's interperatation and can go either way - it stops any cynical tactic creeping in. Regarding Dixon though - when a players arm's stuck there, why not put your second hand on the ball to secure it. If it still pop's out then you'll more likely get the decision.

I know what you're saying.

But the same situation by the same referee, has brought about 2 different decisions.

It's very strange!

That wound me up. How can it be the responsibility of the ball carrier? Not many people would be able to resist the ball being pulled out when lay down after a tackle, against a standing player. It's nigh on impossible. As clear a penalty as you'll ever see.

I thought Fielden was the best prop on the park yesterday.

Did you notice he and Cunningham with their arms around each other at the end of the match?

All the players yesterday deserve praise for producing a fantastic spectacle, in probably the best game of the season so far.

its never 100% the same - I remeber thinking the ref had been fooled by Abblet in the CC game. Ablett pinned the Wigan player's hand underneath the ball and against his chest, knowing they'd have to yank it out and conceed a penalty.

Feilden was good yesterday, his contract wouldn't be up anytime soon perchance? icon_wink.gif

I thought he started well but prescott eclipsed him as the game went on.
For us, Jammer crept into the game in the fist half, but really made an impact when he came back on for his 2nd stint. Apparently he wasn't very well before the game so credit to him for getting stuck in.
