| Does he have the will and the courage to fire Cunningham? Last season was bad, but this season has started horrendously with absolutely no positives so far. The indications are not that he's developing and shaping a squad, but that we're slipping further and further from the required standards. There is no potential in this side, no strike players and a very, very weak mentality. The players at the club are simply not good enough for a side that wants to compete. Making it worse is that we don't have a plan to improve, we aren't trying to play the game the right way. KC has obviously spotted the players at the club aren't capable of playing the game that way. So he's compromised and plays this mind numbing style to make it easier for them. That is the key mistake. He should be playing the game as it's intended to be, in the style the Saints fans want. He should then be signing players to fill roles in that side, not signing players to plug gaps in the ultra-negative side we have now. Owens is a truly calamitous signing, joining a list of players such as Dawson, Tasi and Peyroux, whose signings are just unacceptable.
KC is also coming out with some utterly bizarre stuff in the press. He doesn't seem to be able to read what's going on, and one thing this season has already proven is his inability to motivate the players. There really is no future with KC, it's blindingly obvious already. He's going to destroy his legacy and antics like his post-match interview tonight are only going to make people lose respect for him as well, which is a massive shame. He never struck me as the coaching type, along with Wello, he's at Saints now purely on his name alone.
So does McManus have it in him to sack Cunningham if things don't improve? The braindead few that remain positive would kick off and he'd be firing a club legend and it would make the statue massively awkward. I don't think he has it in him.

| I think there all in it together nice meat feast between KC, Rush and Eamonn. Our club is turning into a joke.

| There is no way that Saints would give KC a long term contract & then fire him based on an early season SL loss & a loss to a top NRL side.
KC will be in charge at Saints for the rest of this season.

| I think KC would resign before McManus would have the courage to sack him. If it happens one way or the other I can't think of one single proven coach who will be available and dramatically improve our poor quality side.

To be honest just some sort of structure and set plays would make a world of difference but we are the only team I've seen that has no structure and no set plays.
It's one man rugby every week no matter who we play. We use are wingers as props and they just not big enough. Tommy is getting smashed (worst kick returns in super league) . We've got Turner running like a prop also now. We are team of forwards.
KC says we have strike power all over the pitch, IMHO we don't have one single strike player, not one single go to player.

Its looking like we are going down the 2015 season route with predictable plays and poor creativity, we might have to wait until Easter until we know for sure if we are a top 8 side. Why is Sean Long not in charge of our attacking options.

When you listen to Robinson post match and KC post match you can see why we are boring team to watch.

| As I said in another thread KC said he was lucky to sign Owens, a player released by his club? a good player does not always make a coach.

| I personally don't want KC sacked as I like him. I also didn't want him to take the job so early as he wasn't ready imo. He needed at least 2 more years as assistant before taking the job.
I'd rather a good experienced coach who is modern in the how the game is played could come in and help KC out.
I'll be sad if KC leaves the club tbh but the way things look its going to happen imo. It's not the losses, it's the way we play. The crowd are sick of it and resulting in the atmosphere being dead at LP.
If this type of rugby continues and the crowd drops off them mcmanus will have no option.

That's the key Pete. It doesn't matter how long a deal he has signed or how much they back him publicly. If these performances continue then the current rumblings of discontent will turn into people staying away and that will negatively affect the business.
McManus won't sit back and let that happen. No matter how much he wants Cunningham to succeed; the sustainability of the business, and his ability to ultimately 'sell' it, is paramount.
I can't see things staying as they are for much longer, especially if we get a hiding next week.

| It's sad to see such a club legend failing like this.
As said above its our style of play that is the issue; not necessarily just wins/losses. If we played like Leeds did tonight and used the ball on Friday i don't think it would be half as bad.
All the good rebuild that Brown put in place after Potter/Royce is in danger of being undone. I can't remember the last time I though that we were a good team with the ball.
Will McManus do anything about it? I'd say that he won't. I don't want him to sack KC but something needs to be done.
A good performance at our bogey ground next week would be a start

| But its not just KC its the others making up the old boys club. Just because you've been a valued player doesn't make you a great staff member or coach, or club captain for that matter. If the performances start to turn people away from the turnstyles and affect the business plan then it will be incumbent on McManus to act.
He has a range of options that he can opt for but quite simply he can't allow it to persist as it is.

Failing? We've only played two league games!
I'm not saying everything is peachy at the minute but let's not lose touch with planet earth just yet.
Name me ONE coaching great who didn't lose a game, put together a poor string of results and drift perilously close to the exit.
I'd argue that Cunningham is as much a victim of personnel as any perceived limitations in coaching.
Admittedly he's at least partially responsible in this department. But there are plenty of contracts he had either limited or no part in signing off. And I don't care what club you choose - I find it hard to believe they would be completely unaffected by losing half of their creative unit for the best part of two seasons (Lomax & Walsh).
Both players have been sucking us dry of wages for very little return. Moreover, they have completely prevented us from making the one or two signings we desperately need to fill problem positions. As for Travis Burns - I'd love to know who scouted him and what reasoning made that decision possible. Whilst he performed well in his first season at Hull KR by the time we picked him up it seemed like just about everyone in the game knew his legs were gone. Who signed off his medical?
